Saw this last night at Wembley. Nobody's uploaded it yet, so Stockholm will have to do.

I love Elton, but Nikita's not his finest by any stretch of the imagination.

I love Nikita ! Interestingly it's a song that was "of its time", but sadly that time has come around again. :(

Also of its time, he chose the name Nikita because most people would think it was about a woman.

Yes, I am always surprised how Zeitgeisty the Cold War was in the 80s. I mean, as a history teacher I'm aware it's the biggest geopolitical event of the second half of the 20th century and influenced all around it, but it's always interesting to see how it bled into popular culture, when we often think of everyday people ignoring geopolitics. Obviously things like 99 Red Balloons are very overt, but Dancing With Tears in my Eyes is all about a nuclear apocalypse as well. That's one I've really enjoyed in this round that I wasn't top familiar with before. Maybe I need to listen to Nikita again...

This is going to be a brutal final stage and it looks like we are decided on Like A Virgin over Material Girl but We Don't Need Another Hero deserves to win out against the fairly generic What's Love Got To Do With It

Agree with Biblio about WDNAH being the better Tina Turner song, although wouldn't have either in my top 5. There's a few stellar artists with relatively ordinary songs here (Stevie Wonder, Queen, Tina (who peaked 10-15 yers previously), Ultravox, the now departed Commodores, and Elton John). Conversely, whilst Bananarama are generally a talentless waste of space I quite like this one.

Great Uncle Bulgaria didn't add the indicated 2 points to the score, so we should have

39 Madonna - Like a Virgin

Please would the next person to post use this score.

It means that he has thought he was in love before, but now he understands that he wasn't really.

How does he know the second one is for real either? He doesn't because he could do it a third time, and how does he know that the third time is for real? He doesn't, and ought to be getting a bit suspicious himself by now....- ad infinitum.

Which just proves that love and thus songs about it are a load of old bollocks and should all be downvoted immediately.
