Still, they weren't the only band of pretty boys who started out as new wave/electronic/prog rock(even), who were then promoted by the industry as boy bands and pushed in the direction of songs that pandered to that market. Seems teenaged girls bought more records than the target audience of their early stuff and capitalism sees to the rest... Duran Duran for one.
