We still got nearly a month to go, there’s no need to make predictions that there’s no more hits until maybe like a week out or so

What are you writing here is hilarious for 2 reasons...

So, you can 'predict' that there is gonna be another death... but I cant 'predict' the opposite?

Also, this was not a forum in which everyone can write and share what they think?

It wasn’t the predicting of no more deaths that I had issue with. It was more that you were speaking in terms of absolute which at that point was a bit silly to say at that point in time. Obviously (unless the next three days change) it’s looking like no more deaths but there was no way to be so certain of that. Lots of frail folk that just happen to continue lingering on.

You are still validating my point... first, is your interpretation that 'I was speaking in terms of absolute'... but if so, secondly, what is the difference between a member who point a single name? is not that also sounds speaking in terms of absolute?

Third, considering the way the deaths of famous people occur during this year, my thought was not 'silly'.... guess what? its looking like I am going to be right.

Last but not least, yes, it looks like there are lot of frail folks.

Such a baron spell. At present does this years list look to have the lowest total of hits on record?.....Anyway my ping went to Tom Baker. Perhaps he will be a "ran out of time lord" just before 2025

The record for lowest hits is actually zero! 1991, long before most of us knew about the DL, indeed before several forum regulars were even born.

Before I was born and before my parents were married.

It is the lowest in "modern" DL history, though, that being since the list was first limited to 50 names in 1994. That said, by this time in 2022, Pelé, Pope Benny, and Barbara Walters, all of whom had been selected by the DL at some point, were yet to die, so there is still time enough for the next-lowest total, 7, to be reached or surpassed.

It's amazing it's stayed as low as it has when you look at some of the names on the list who are still going

especially as got off to a blazing start - 3/5 deaths in first week or so.

Recently there tends to be a drop off after a big year.

17 in 2017 was followed by 12 and then 13 and then after the record 20 in 2020 it was 12, 14 and then 19 last year.

Smart choices on who to keep for 2025 should see growth again over the next few years.
