Ulitzer95 12,912 Posted Saturday at 01:37 Interesting that O. J. Simpson was not included. I guess that answers our question about Harvey Weinstein and Roman Polanski being included in future montages. I'm actually of the controversial opinion they should be included. You're giving a nod to their work more so than who they were in their personal life, and you can't just erase or forget about film history. I also note that TCM are now moving away from the Golden era in their tributes. A strong contingent of lesser known Golden Age names were all snubbed this year. Carla Balenda, Micheline Presle, Gloria Stroock, Barbra Fuller, Armando Silvestre, Evans Evans, and Yvonne Furneaux standing out. Their exclusion feels like somewhat of a betrayal given that TCM prioritise showing Golden Age movies on their network above anything else, and all of them would have no doubt appeared in films on TCM. Chad McQueen should have been in there for his role in The Karate Kid. Would've also been nice to see John Savident (for A Clockwork Orange), and Françoise Hardy and Jean-Charles Tacchella – they always seem to exclude some very notable French names. Anyway, can't include everyone. Overall, it was very well done.

It's really annoying for people trying to scroll through the thread. June Spencer never appeared in film. She was a radio actress, and had nothing to do with Hollywood either. Silvio Santos was a television presenter and media mogul in Brazil. Again, absolutely nothing to do with Hollywood.

If you were compiling a list of important people (either, to do with film or not) who have died this year, Simpson is a must include and is a person worth remembering. But when publishing a video like that, one that pays tribute to those we've sadly lost, personally I'd see it is a dishonour to all those who are worthy of memorial to be shown alongside the likes of Simpson. Certain people's works (e.g. Weinstein and Polanski) have had a massive impact on the medium of film and culture at large, and whilst once they've gone they should be remembered, they shouldn't be memorialised.

Certain people's works (e.g. Weinstein and Polanski) have had a massive impact on the medium of film and culture at large, and whilst once they've gone they should be remembered, they shouldn't be memorialised. I have considered all of this. However, for the vast majority of names in the TCM tribute, they're unknowns to most people – hence why they'll show a clip of say Jurassic Park or Blade Runner whilst their name and headshot runs by. For most ppl watching, we're celebrating the work, not the person – whether we consciously acknowledge that in our minds or not. If I was doing it on the basis individuals and not work though, I'd still include the likes of Roman Polanski and Woody Allen, but leave out Harvey Weinstein. At the end of the day it should be about the rule of law, not trial by media. Though arguably Polanski is only a free man because he's evaded the courts by staying in exile! The more you go into detail, the harder it becomes to rule on people because of how complicated it is. How about Kevin Spacey and Brian Singer? What do you do with them? Sure, Spacey is a free man but look at how many accusers. Morgan Freeman, Arnie Hammer – do you exclude them too? The answer is I don't think you should unless they've gone to jail for something significantly bad.

I’m a little surprised about Furneaux and Presle, but the likes of Balenda and Strook were not major players at all, especially compared to Barbara Rush and Janis Paige. What hurt the two Frenchwoman was always being in the shadow of better-known Michele Morgan and Danielle Darrieux. Anne Vernon and Genevieve Page might run into this same problem when they go. With all due respect to Gena, they really should have ended with Dame Maggie.

The Old Crem 3,648 Posted yesterday at 09:59 Burt. the main Crocodile in the film Crocodile Dundee, has died. He was estimated to be at least 90 years old. Sky News When I saw the headline Crocodile Dundee star dies I thought it was Paul Hogan who had died. 4

TheKeysOfMarinus 396 Posted 19 hours ago It would appear that Terence Stamp is in Denville Hall. Forgive me if this has been discussed before but around the 4:45 mark on this episode of the Rockonteurs podcast, Andrew Loog Oldham refers to “a new client moved in” to Denville Hall who has “moved Far From the Madding Crowd”. That podcast is from July 2023. 2

Great find, It would make a lot of sense, he hasn't done anything since (the incredibly underrated) Last Night in Soho, which was filmed in Summer 2019.

A unique pick 'hit' for me in the DDP but I choose him because he was in one of my all time favorite films Fright Night (1985). I wasn't aware he was in Die Hard 2, for me it was all about Fright Night. The brilliant Chris Sarandon is around the same age as Art and also starred in Fright Night. He might make some deadpoolers a good pick me thinks.
