M.Lawrenson 11 Posted July 4, 2005 As far as I know, Doris Day (singer/actress) is still alive. According to All Music Guide she was born April 3rd 1924, making her 81. Also, she's barely been seen since her TV show ended in 1973. Strangely, her son Terry Melcher died last November aged 62...

maryportfuncity 10,639 Posted July 5, 2005 Clearly the world ignored the Super Furry Animals plea to 'Shoot Doris Day' a few years ago.

Magere Hein 1,400 Posted July 5, 2005 'Shoot Doris Day' Is that something like Talk Like A Pirate Day? Shiver me timbers, Hein
maryportfuncity 10,639 Posted July 5, 2005 Nowt like that. It's a typically eliptical lyric from the Welsh psych/pop/funsters. The closer you look the less it's about the cheesy screen queen and the more it seems to be a broadside at a departing girlfriend. A few references to people not staying the same and the singer struggling to get through some feelings. Good gag at one point though: He claims he's going to get over everything by binging on 'Crack and tiramasu.'

G. Love 0 Posted November 14, 2005 For some reason, I can envision Doris Day becoming the new Barbara Cartland, the ageing crone who refuses to die for decades after her sell-by date.

Dave to the Grave 11 Posted September 11, 2006 Doris Day. Doris Doris Doris Day. Such an unsual name. Mr Hugh G Erection and the Reverend Willy R Dickgraber would probably disagree. (Real names out of the phone book, apparently)

Slave to the Grave 26 Posted September 11, 2006 Doris Day. It should be declared a national holiday. Every day has a name in France, don't think there's a Doris though. Today is Adelphe, by the way.

In the Netherlands we do something similar, still no Doris Day, though. Today's 'maandag', which translates loosely to 'Monday'. regards, Hein
