Looks like Suharto might go this year. He has been declared unfit to stand trial. Perhaps he should of been included this year after all.

I believe it's Suharto's lawyers that have decided he's unfit for trial rather than his doctors - I'm not saying the guy is corrupt... but he apparently topped the Global Corruption Report 2004 being selected as the most...corrupt guy in the world

[Random thought - I wonder if the judges who draw up that list are open to bribery???]

Besides he voted in Indonesia's elections a few days ago so Im happily voting for Sunharto to see the dawn of 2005.

I'm with you Reaper. In Australia a few years back now we had a businessman called Christopher Skase who took off to Majorca with alot unhappy people's hard earned cash. Our govt tried everything to have him extradited back here to face the music, guess what, each court case failed due to some other contrived illness which made it impossible for him to stand trial or fly in a plane or whatever. Finally he did actually die, & not too many people really cared either, some still don't believe he's really dead either! Suharto is as healthy as an ox, just another excuse to not face the music.

According to news sources, former dictator, Suharto, who ruled Indonesia for 32 years before being forced from power, is in intensive care after being taken to hospital last Thursday.

Doctors say that the 83 year-old Suharto is suffering from intestinal bleeding and his condition is life threatening.

If he dies from this illness, it could be a major miss for the 2005 deathlist.

Indonesia's Suharto seriously ill

Here is an update on his health.

Let's hope he survives till 2006. I want him in my DDP team.

regards,

Hein

None of the above have pulled off the medical miracle of Ernest Saunders - who had his fingers in the Guinness till a few years back. Saunders was looking at a jail term when his lawyers managed to convince the court their man was showing unmistakable signs of early Alzheimers. He got off lightly and still - apparantly - has most of his wits about him today.

Suharto is back in hospital due to intestinal bleeding.

He's got to be considered for '06.

Hang on, buddy, just two more months.

regards,

Hein

Why is Suharto listed as having no posts on the '06 list when this thread exists?

Don't look like any of the 2006 names threads have been created

for the 2006 list. I'm sure they will appear in time. :o

Usually at this time of night there isn't anyboby roaming the DL besides

myself. It's only 10.30 here in New York when I believe in the UK it

is 5 hours ahead.

To me it's still 2005.

How convenient for him to fall ill, just as it looked he might be called up for trial after all... :(

Aye but he can't top Ernest Saunders medically exempted from the Guinness trial because he was showing signs of Alzheimers, the man still has his faculties.
