Guest The intelligent answer. Posted November 14, 2008 The death of members = lifeless forum. If posting becomes more of a habit then a hobby then it's time to kick it. Godot's style is almost irreplaceable and his departure will weaken the core of this place. The death of Scream might leave some members celebrating but his presence does in fact have much value. The man is a prime contributer and is usually a quality contributer even if you find him a little controversial or eccentric or whatever. The most important thing is to remember that "this concept" of death only exists here and only here. It doesn't go on anywhere else. The final word is let's value our members and respect their decisions for they are the minds which have truly made this place worth while.
Octopus of Odstock 2,187 Posted November 14, 2008 Also why is moderation seen as "promotion"? It's a thankless job, pissing around with spam and shifting thoughtless posts to the right thread. Well, as a brand new mod, that nice Mr DWB offered me a wonderous glimpse into the world of luxury, ladies & life beyond being a mere member of DL. "you don't have to do anything, won't take up any time at all" was the gist of his sales patter. The reality... As if I haven't got enough to do, I now get constant e-mails from The Unknown Man* to clear spam & ban the spammer (which I can't do anyway). Yay! Promotion my arse! There are certain bonuses to be a mod though, I must admit though, which makes most of it worthwhile. * TUM, no offence, but if I see it when I'm posting, I'll delete it. I have 65,001 things to do before 2009, most of them DDP related, so if I'm not logged on when the spammer strikes, please just report to a mod who is. Otherwise, those 65,001 things get pushed further back and back.

You got an offer? Luxury, ladies etc? Some discrimination going on here, Bou and I both logged in one day to find out we were promoted demoted, with a list of who likes what in their tea/coffee, what time we are expected to serve lunch and the cleaning duty rota..... Don't forget the ironing and hand-darning of Grim Reaper's silk boxer shorts. Can we be a bit less free with the moderator nominations please? I don't fancy having to add specialist stain-removal to our list of chores honours.
Paul Bearer 6,101 Posted November 14, 2008 I don't fancy having to add specialist stain-removal to our list of chores honours. How do you think I feel now? I have some really disgusting things to do now I'm in the Admin boat. Eh? Whassat Mr Reaper sir? Of course I will, and I'll even use my own toothbrush. Typhoid Harry 23 Posted November 16, 2008 When I was first called up taken advantage of I didn't even notice. Then, when I noticed I wrote a PM assuming it was a mistake. Too late. AtJ got "touched" at the same time, as I recall. There are some benefits, though, and I suggest anyone who treads less than lightly around me check their sig. I even got a fellow mod once. harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy 1,688 Posted August 7, 2009 I think it's scandalous that DDT isn't a mod (assuming he'd want the gig). Clearly the best and most regular poster on the site *, he'd be a valuable asset in the role. * apart from me.

I'm with you both on that one. He won't be allowed to refuse if it ever gets offered, you just log in one day and find you have certain 'privileges', like the right to play with BC Alum's signature, the right to modify posts and most importantly the right to be slagged off every time something goes wrong on the DL . Not that I'm convinced anyone's going to offer, but for the record - I don't want it and I'd disappear. Of course, that could be an efficient way to get rid of me..... Lord Fellatio Nelson 6,218 Posted August 13, 2009 I think its all a crock of sh*t TBH. DDT is no more worthy, if thats the right word, of being a Mod than, say, Phantom. I think DDT is a top fella but he would be the first to admit that his ventures onto the extra curricular board are as frequent as Halleys Comet. If you are going to curse people with the "modship" they really have to be all over the forum. Clearly, mods have sodded off so, in theory, we need to replenish. The forum is working perfectly ok at the present. Stop thinking of sodding around with it, it doesnt need it. B'ollocks.
