Houston, I have a problem. Having put BS on ignore, I have noticed that my shitomatic software is detecting serious drivel contamination in frequent guest postings. Unfortunately the shitomatic is not sophisticated enough to sift out all drivel. Now it informs me that my drivel absorption capacity is overloading, leading to dangerously high levels in my system and frequent sense of humour failures. I'm noticing high readings in other posters too. If these chronic symptoms persist, death by drivel is inevitable.

As a man of the cloth (I come from a textile town) I no longer have any stomach for the "lashings of the old ultraviolence" in this and other threads. If the boy can discover some sense of proportion in his posting I think that there can be hope yet of redemption. If the silly guest posts are abandoned I, for one, am prepared to cut him some slack. In the meantime there is that handy ignore button.

Not quite accurate mpfc, there are a few of us floating around the 500 view mark, check this menu to see, change the box from 'member name' to 'profile views' and change 'ascending order' to 'descending order', the profile views also include the no. of times you have clicked on other members profiles, unavoidable if you send PM's.

I do feel, however, that all of the above would, no doubt, have some bearing if he was 12 years old ( he has made it clear that he is very much an "Adult" ) but BS isnt.

Trying to reform BS is a bit like asking a member of the British National Party to put up a few Somalian asylum seekers for a bit.

Maybe you do find some of his critics much more tedious, some of his "victims" may question your priorities.

If the problem is as serious as you contend, my priority would be to sort out the real problem i.e. the abuse. If I have understood it correctly, this takes place mainly in PMs and in chat. The solution therefore lies in those areas. If DL software isn't sufficiently sophisticated to work around those problems (remove the ability to PM, lock out of chat), then an unsophisticated ban would be in order - but for ABUSE not for the quality of poetry or spelling or eccentricity of syntax or just being stoned whilst posting. A couple of substantiated complaints to the boss could do it. If the management doesn't respond, then a complaint to the host/server/local police might have some persuasive power.

 

Deal with the real problem, if that can be proven to exist, and the other matter will vanish - or more likely, attention will shift to some other poor bugger instead!

I disagree Pooka, LCR is/was an exception to the rule. Most 'novelty' posters only hang around to visit and or annoy for a short time, the unusual thing about LCR was that she hung around long enough for her annoyanceness to get to the point where members felt some help was needed to point out which direction in which she should fcuk off.

 

On the other hand I would say whoever is behind Banshees is a genius. The 'Banshees' character is extraordinarily consistent, his "pseudo-cabalistic clap-trap" (as Notapotato once splendidly put it) is as indecipherable as ever. The marginal improvement of his spelling is a subtle indicator of the fraud, although lately Banshees has added xenophobia to his arsenal, which has provided another tiny chink in the facade. Offensive enough to provoke reply, but not enough to necessitate banishment. The only thing worse than being talked about behind your back...

 

I'm starting to think Banshees has the same writers as Ken Barlow, as the consistency of his character over such a long period is nothing short of astonishing.

Personally I sort of enjoy BS's posts. I often disagree with him but why should we all agree? The members who are getting all lathered up about him are hard for me to understand. In a forum like this, diversity of opinion is something to be encouraged. If you have a serious problem with his posts, don't read them. The idea of banning someone just because you don't like their opinions is also rather foreign to me. I really think, as some of the comments next to avatars say, that some of our members "really need to get a life".
