will be 80 on thursday. But will she make it to her 90th birthday? What do you think?

She is having a party with 650 guests to celebrate her 80th birthday on Thursday, so I don't think that she is ready to die just yet.

Queen to attend Thatcher's 80th

Some people die very soon after reaching a "milestone" birthday. Fingers crossed.

A lot of people die within 6 months of a birthday. ;)

That one probably won't go over well.

I sense some repressed negative emotions towards the old bat at this forum. Do you guys ever wonder how a notoriously unpopular politician like the Iron Lady ever managed to get re-elected twice? Do you actually know people that voted for her?!

(Not being a Briton, am I permitted to detest everything Thatcherite, by the way? Or do you feel chauvinistic about your pet hatred?)

I don't think the negative emotions concerning Margaret Thatcher on this forum could be considered as being repressed.

Well while we're there, why not think about how Tony Blair managed to get re-elected twice!

Well, it's not as if the Tories made the choice very hard for you...

Well, it's a way of saying things. In Holland we call it 'sarcasm'.

...and nor did Labour in the 1980s. Ineffective oppositions lead to these long periods in power. Looks as though the Tories are starting to get their act together now though...

I've never once voted "New Labour", they're a bunch of slimy spivs.

I agree, but how can it be an excuse to support the conservatives, I wonder?!

Even if that observation is correct, it does not succeed in comforting me.

I know a lot of people who would like to have voted Lib Dem but were worried about splitting the NL vote and letting the Tories in through the back door, so voted NL even though they didn't really want to.

I think that if all the people who did that simply voted Lib Dem, the Lib Dem party would be in a very, very strong position. Go Chuck!

It does not matter which party gets elected into government, whether it is Labour or Conservative. They all act the same way by raising our taxes, cutting our benefits and squandering our money once they are elected into government.

I mean no harm to anyone but sadly i think that the witch will survive the year out!

She won't be dragged to hell that easily!!

Anyone without a heart has a good chance of surviving longer that they look!

Sorry for the political rant-She is one hated lady in my house (A house she nearly took away).

Cheers Fierce.
