Cheryl Murray, Coronation Street's Suzie Birchall in the 70s and 80s, has a memorial website saying she died September 2023, nothing anywhere else, but it's happened before with a lot of other UK soap stars.

Confirmation from the The Sun. Includes a tribute from ITV.

Gets rapid breaking news notifications from the Sun, Mirror and Mail as soon as that statement from ITV was issued.

Can’t name him for legal purposes but this geezer may or may not have been in Corrie and The Bill.

From that it’s not difficult to work it out.

One to watch.

Some papers have suggested he is a current soap star but there is nobody that fits so it’s a former one.

However guessing game cases like this are only going to push closer the introduction of no naming until conviction.

Dude, read my post again then do a little original research. You may work it out.

I whoever it is (I can’t work it out even through I really should be able to) the main reaction is mainly that their name shouldn’t be released until conviction,

If you're going by what Ulitzer said then there's loads of actors who have been in both The Bill and Corrie, but given the coverage it's more likely to be someone who had significant roles in both. Looking at the actors who appeared regularly in The Bill, from what I can see there are 3 male names who I recognise as being regulars in Corrie. One of them isn't old enough, so in my head there's two people who this could potentially be about, neither of whom are still in the show.

If it's who I'm thinking of he was cleared of something similar about a decade ago. (Not Michael Le Vell)

Note: if the alleged offences were against teenagers, he is not a paedophile.

I know I'm fighting a losing battle here, but we need to keep the word for offenders against young children.

Nobody above used the the words pedophile or children.

The articles in the press atm make it clear that it was teenagers. They don't however state if those teenagers were of legal age or not (or a mixture of both).

I didn't know that, makes me a lot more likely to believe it's him over the other person who fits the criteria.

It's in the headline.  Paedophilia by definition involves underage children.

Legal age is another issue.  Because having sex with a minor is illegal, people conflate it with paedophilia.  Legal age varies in different jurisdictions anyway so it's more complicated.

Legal age back in the 1990’s was 21 until 1994 and then 18 until 2001. These offences are said to have been in the 1990’s.

If he did commit suicide it would post it in the Bill thread - he is more remembered for that than his relatively short stint in Corrie.

I'm assuming that 'Kinda' is the Doctor Who episode and you're referring to Simon Rouse,

who, to be Frank, is not the name we seem to have collectively decided to Foster. ;)

That's the 2nd actor who portrayed Roman Brady on Days of Our Lives to die this year (Drake Hogestyn). The current Roman (Josh Taylor) has to be feeling a little bit antsy right now..
