Paul Westphal has died age 70 - let’s find out about his obit chances now.

He’s a mail obit guaranteed, would be stunned if he didn’t get anything

Interesting that KC Jones and Paul Westphal die weeks apart.Jones made the Hall of Fame as a player but should have gone in for what he did as a Coach. And Westphal was elected as a coach when he had a better resume for his playing career.

LOL great -- in my wee home deadpool we get a 5 point bon:us for first hit -- I had Floyd Little, another person Westphal.  Great, how we going to determine this one?  To Google News I go, I guess....

From what I can find, the first announcements were:
Westphal: 1:11pm
Little: 1:28pm

LOL Jesus..... 17 minutes apart

Little actually died on January 1, Westphal on January 2.

University of Kentucky two-sport athlete Ben Jordan has died.  Multiple reports on Tuesday confirmed Jordan’s death, though the cause has not yet been revealed. Jordan, who played baseball and basketball at Kentucky, was was 22.

Jordan was a Kentucky native and highly touted baseball prospect at West Carter High School in Olive Hill. He had a chance to be drafted by an Major League Baseball team before undergoing Tommy John surgery his senior year. Jordan enrolled at Kentucky in 2018 but redshirted, eventually making his debut the following season.

As a redshirt freshman in 2019, Jordan appeared in 10 games and struck out eight. The 6-foot-9 pitcher then walked on to the Kentucky basketball team for the 2019-20 season and appeared in two games.

Anyone know who the oldest NBA basketball player is?

Whitey Von Nieda (wiki), 98, is the oldest one on my watchlist on Wiki (I think). Pretty sure he's alive. Anyone know of others in the same age range?

It indeed apears to be Whitey is the oldest

Based on my own search that I did a few months ago this appears to be the list of former NBA players still alive who were born in the 1920's

Here are the living 1920's born folk who have played in the NBA

1923 born
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnny_Macknowski

Macknowski is the *Oldest born outside America

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gene_Stump

1925 born
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arnie_Ferrin

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leo_Kubiak

1926 born
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duane_Klueh

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Donovan

1927 born
*https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bud_Grant

More notable to Us sport as the Hall Of Fame Football coach of the Minnesota Vikings

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Harrison_(basketball)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Gayda

1928 born
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Cousy

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ralph_O'Brien

1929 born
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernie_Barrett

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Phelan_(basketball)

Grant,Cousy and Phelan are the only 3 who would be certain to get DDP qualfying obits

Von Nieda is more than likely alive as he had an article about him by his college alma matter  in 2019

https://news.psu.edu/photo/592943/2019/10/14/stanley-whitey-von-nieda

When he passes at the very least he will get mentioned by the local press in Pennsylvania

How in the hell does one not see a 7’6” guy on a bike (which would have to been custom built oversized as well imagine) ?
