Deathray 2,940 Posted June 28, 2018 Didn't realise she'd been dropped from the list, short-sighted decision. Won't attend service at St. Pauls this morning as she's feeling "under the weather". However there is "no cause for alarm" and "no doctor has been called" Might just be me reading to much into it, but given she'll be attended another engagement today is this code for "there's something up with Philip?" His annual dose of V-I-A-G-R-A has kicked in.... Time for that specialist harness riding.

Zsa Zsa's leg 884 Posted June 28, 2018 Probably terminal cancer and she won't see July. But in all seriousness, this is likely a nothing burger, it's a miracle she doesn't always feel unwell at 92 and being one of the longest serving heads of state.

deathisallaround 21 Posted July 1, 2018 I just saw this was a story when looking at the front pages of the papers on the BBC website (and zooming in). The story appears to have a bit more detail in the Sunday Times but their website is behind a pay wall. They are emphasising that actual ministers from all 4 nations were meeting (rather than just officials as in previous meetings) and going into specifics, such as when, during the 10 days of National mourning, the prime minister should make statements. It does appear that things have been hurried along. More interestingly, I have just heard about the Queen falling ill this week and I tend to follow all things royal. I've read lots of (non)stories about the younger members of the family...were these stories put out to distract others?!

Davey Jones' Locker 1,324 Posted July 1, 2018 "The exercise was not prompted by specific concerns about the Queen’s health, but it came in a week that the 92-year-old monarch missed a service at St Paul’s Cathedral because she was unwell." Hmmm... https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/ministers-rehearse-for-death-of-the-queen-lt73v29bb This would have been co-ordinated well in advance to be fair. If they were putting these together any time a royal was unwell then there'd surely be a dozen Philip dry-runs in the past few months.

Here is a full report you can access on a Welsh news site: https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/what-happen-queen-dies-14868813 Is it wrong that I am starting to find the anticipation for this exciting?! It is going to be such a monumental world event that hasn't happened in the lifetime of most of the population. I also like the fact that we don't know when it will happen: it could be tomorrow, or it could be ten years from now.

Davey Jones' Locker 1,324 Posted July 6, 2018 One interesting quote from the article: "The bells at Westminster Abbey sounded and the Sebastopol bell, which is rung only when a sovereign dies, chimed. It was tolled 56 times at Windsor – once for each year of George VI’s life – from 1.27pm until 2.22pm." Anyone standing within earshot of it when Lizzie goes is going to end up with a headache then. Davey Jones' Locker 1,324 Posted July 6, 2018 Some other choice quotes: If Lizzie's coffin has to be shipped back to London by train, a second train will follow behind to clear all the debris, such as flowers, thrown by mourners! Also: "Commercial radio has its own plans. A radio producer detailed how if you ever hear Haunted Dancehall (Nursery Remix) by Sabres of Paradise on the radio, you should turn on the news because "something terrible has happened". Radio stations all have their own "obit procedures". There are playlists of mood music rated Mood 1 or 2 (very sad) carefully listened to again and again to ensure it doesn't include a rogue lyric. Dido's "I will go down with this ship" should never slip through the net for a ferry disaster, for example."
