Roger Ebert

Recommended Posts

Robert Ebert has updated his Facebook page this evening:

I'm aving [sic] a lot of health troubles that are keeping me from doing work and functioning online. Best person to contact is Chaz. Not in best of shape.

He was recently in the news after breaking his hip in a fall, but that post makes me wonder if he is alluding to something more troublesome.

This dude loves pious self-righteousness on Twitter nearly as much as every single New Statesman journo, so for him to put the social media to one side for a while... well, let's just say we're going to have two thumbs six feet down next year.

I am starting to think all these celebrities updating their health status taking a downturn in December are not doing this to keep their fans informed they are just trying to troll everyone yearly deadpools.

Hmm, I should try to remember to put him on my list, for next year.

Sad, I liked him... and he sounded strangely cheerful just two days ago.

Even sadder, I predicted it.

Edit: His website shows that the last movie he reviewed was 'The Host'. Did Stephenie Meyer's work kill him?

That didn't take long

Sad news. But I'll take the DDP points, especially as its points a couple of the front runners won't be getting. My 4th hit with Bernie and Mandela not far off. Who said OoO and DDT were out of reach?

Whoa-ly shit. That was fast. Almost put him on my list but then I thought his sheer cheerful curmudgeoniness would keep him alive for a few years more.....

RIP

That is a real shame. He was a top class film critic.

What's Barry Norman up to these days?

Roger Ebert braved cancer for so long. Total hero, and I'm sad that the end came so close on the heals of his fair health news the other day. A few people are totally irreplaceable, Roger Ebert was one of those people.

Surprised that he went this quickly. Seeing how he managed to troop through his previous bout with cancer I'd have thought he'd have stayed around for at least a few more months.

There's no doubt Ebert had a genuine love of film. RIP.

If he makes it to the end of the year, movie critic Roger Ebert would be a good pick. He's just had emergency surgery and is in a serious condition.

Fingers crossed he can last out the year

he lasted a lot longer than you thought!
