Jazz elders are incredibly tough. Ray Anthony, Marshall Allen and Roy Haynes are doing extremely well despite their age and lifestyle.

Martial Solal is another one of them, don’t know if he’s famous enough outside of France but here he’s an A lister

Grammy Award-winning alto saxophonist David Sanborn died at 78 years:

He had actually been scheduled to perform at a local club in my area tomorrow. They sent out an announcement about a week ago that the show was postponed because David had just undergone back surgery to repair two spinal stress fractures. I know the announcement said cause of death was cancer, but I can’t help wondering if that contributed to it.

And with her demise the survivor count from the photo A Great Day in Harlem goes down to three: Benny Golson, Sonny Rollins, and Horace Silver.

Benny Golson being reported dead aged 95:

Nothing on his website so might be true, might not.

Awaiting the usual confirmations - a DDP pick.
