Spade_Cooley 9,519 Posted February 8, 2013 Lengthy interview with Sandy Jardine on his cancer and Rangers. For our younger readers, "Rangers" were a football team in the olden days. The cancer isn't just in his liver but also his throat. He doesn't sound like he holds too much hope of seeing 2014, but we'll see.

Bibliogryphon 9,572 Posted February 11, 2013 Are most of the death mentioned here connected with Scottish Football because our members are more interested in this or is there a weird Cracker style seriel killer hunting down former players from the Scottish Leagues. Proportionally there should be many more English football deaths. Could this be symbolic of the death of the game in Scotland?

Spade_Cooley 9,519 Posted February 16, 2013 My team's manager is off sick with a "debilitating illness". Could just be stress, of course, but no one seems to know at this stage Apparently the illness is manifesting itself as headaches, but that's the only info leaked so far. Let us know if your team's forum starts talking about brain tumours.
Red Flag 84 Posted February 16, 2013 Heh, wouldn't be the first time - Cyril Knowles died from a brain tumour less than 2 years after leaving us But everything's been suspiciously quiet. It's been described as "headaches" and "a virus" (but at the same time the club have also said he's "undergoing tests" to find out what the problem is - if they didn't know it was a virus, why did they tell us it was?), along with talk that he's been ill for some time. But morale and confidence amongst the players has dropped off a cliff (not that it was particularly high anyway), and we're now looking for an experienced interim manager until the end of the season - and, if you want to be cynical about it, why would the club actively go out to hire an experienced manager knowing that he'll want the job full time if they know that the current manager will return, aside from our dreadful form? The fact that the LMA were brought into it suggests it may either be some kind of stress-related issue (in which case, I can't see him remaining manager for much longer) or a serious illness of which we're not being told the full extent. There's something not quite right about this
