An Austrian Cup tie between Blau-Weiss Linz and TSV Hartberg has been abandoned after Raphael Dwamena collapsed on the sidelines.

Dwamena (26) only joined BW Linz in the summer after a layoff after having an ICD (Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator) implanted to correct a heart ailment while at Levante last year.

I wonder how Christian Eriksen will feel when he hears the news.  He has already gone off injured today and now a player with a bad heart has dropped dead.

Dwamena recently had his permanent defibrillator removed as he thought it was the cause of his problems.

Not the sharpest tool in the shed.

I believe he may have been selected for the 1974 World Cup but never played.

You’re right, he was in the Dutch squad for the 1974 WC, but was an unused substitute.

He was also in their squad for the 1976 Euro, this time playing Netherlands’ two games as they finished third.

He scored 2 goals in the 3rd place game.
