Wilko circling the drain

Given the steep downward trajectory of my local store over the last few years I can't say I'm surprised. I hope they get bought-out and turned round by people who know what they're doing.

Wilkos takes a step nearer

Clintons (not exactly strangers to struggle over the last few years) are looking closer than ever to doing a Wilko

Perhaps if actually stocked some half decent cards at sensible prices, they wouldn't be in this mess. No wonder Card Factory wipe the floor with them.

Really sad about this. Wilko was somewhere you could rely on getting decent quality goods at a reasonable price, and there was some consistency, unlike the likes of B&M, Home Bargains or Poundland where you never really know what you're going to find on the shelves.  At least with Wilko if you bought something and liked it you could buy it again.

I liked it not being out in some godforsaken "retail park" as well.

And they used to play really good music* in there, although that stopped in recent years.

*That means music that was to my taste.

They were in receivership or summat a decade ago; I’m surprised it took this long.

WeWork files for bankruptcy in the US, which affects the company's business in the US and Canada.

WeWork forced to file for bankruptcy in the US

Ousted founder Adam Neumann's comments on the situation are amusing at best, as I'm sure it is "disappointing" and "challenging for me to watch" on top of the pile of money he was sent off with back in 2019.

Pontins looks like they will be taking a permanent holiday before long

Pontins is owned by the UK's favourite Hoteliers, Britannia, so investment has been minimal for the past decade. Rumour has it that these two camps are being leased to the HO for refugees (though Prestatyn isn't exactly convenient for such).

The home office have tonight denied that rumour.

Not a crashing company per se, rather a crashing industry concept that Sir Creep has said won’t work without putting the infrastructure first, and here we are seeing his bold statement coming to fruition, as Ford Motor HALVES it’s production of EVs (amid changing its overall EV strategy) because nobody wants that shit.
