Shiner was also the oldest living artist to mark the US pop charts, hitting the top ten in 1950 with a children's novelty song about the Easter Bunny (sometimes the description says it all). Now Ray Anthony is the oldest.

Three oldest from the UK Singles Charts are:

Ray Anthony b. 20 Jan 1922
Jane Morgan b. 03 May 1924
Bill Hayes b. 05 Jun 1925

Does the UK and the US have the same top 3 now?

Ann Clark Terry (born April 28 1922) charted in the US as far back as 1945 as a member of the vocal group The Sentimentalists. As obscure as Shiner, but there's a Facebook fan page for her group that acknowledged her centenary so she at least can go in the definitely living pile.

Australian country "legend", Sheik of Scrubby Creek Chad Morgan deserves a mention here. Not dead yet, but he's been rumored dead many times since 2008, has looked quite frail and decrepit for more than a decade but seems like he's still performing. He's 90, two months older than Willie Nelson.

Chad Morgan, according to his website can barely perform anymore due to arthritis (and the other two million ailments he has), had to cancel concerts last year on doctors orders and according to his site a "farewell concert" will be held in April.

For those unfamiliar with the unique legend that is Chad Morgan, it's this guy. Actually older than Willie Nelson, albeit by a few weeks

Sounds like about as perfect a death as you could want - heart attack after doing what he loved the evening before. Hopefully Debbie Gibson and their two-headed lovechild are being comforted and cared for at this difficult time.

How is dying from a heart attack aged 66 whilst awake and still active better than peacefully slipping away in your sleep aged 85?

That's how I'd choose, but each to their own. I suppose you've got your lists and whatnot to keep you happy till you're 85. Enjoy.

You know nothing about my life outside of DL.

I would have liked him to be around a lot longer.

I know people currently on that cruise and know people that have performed on that cruise on previous years.

I’ve never considered the iconic Mojo Nixon to be one iota ‘country’, any more than calling Tom Waits ‘country’.  Mojo deserved better.  RIP, be sorely missed.

Here’s a country song, I guess.

Erv Woolsey, who discovered and managed George Strait, and who played a role in the careers of the likes of Lee Ann Womack, Dierks Bentley, Ronnie Milsap and Clay Walker, has died. He was 80.

Colt Ford, stereotypical redneck country singer and probably the largest name in country rap hospitalised, stable in ICU following heart attack.

Only 53 but with a history of health issues (notably eye cancer and myasthenia gravis)
