Spade_Cooley 9,538 Posted April 6, 2017 Sam Sheppard fit a lot into his 46 years before dying today in 1970: neurosurgeon, subject of a media witch hunt, wrongfully imprisoned for ten years for his wife's murder, inspiring The Fugitive and a professional wrestling career.

BTW I attended an elementary school with an attached kindergarten that was an original 1-room schoolhouse built by Henry Ford for the workers/families of the small machine shops that were popping up 25 miles west of Detroit. The school was demolished a few years ago, leaving the old schoolhouse as a reminder. Just a few months ago they moved the schoolhouse to an historical site for preservation....a little bittersweet from where I'm sitting but I'm glad it survived. Sir Creep 7,070 Posted April 7, 2017 I know you are all riveted as to the story I presented, so here's the Henry Ford 1-room schoolhouse being dragged away. This is filmed approx 2 1/2 blocks from where Sir Creep grew up. He didn't attend the kindergarten, as his family moved there when he started 1st grade, but his younger sister did. Sir Creep 7,070 Posted April 8, 2017 Like Laura Nyro, Elisha Otis also died this day at age 49. His was 1861 - 155 years ago - and being the inventor of the elevator, his life was full of ups and downs. SC (Edit: BAH my math skills are askew, Mr. Otis is 156 years. Well -- I needed to work in the 49 year old angle anyway lol)

The first reports are those of Vetruvius,on Archimedes' device of 236 BC. Otis invented the safety elevator, which prevented the car falling if the cable broke. Still, not bad for an aardvark.
