He was on my longlist, could have been this year's Pierre Boulez...

Also dead, "eminent" british pianist Anthony Goldstone at 72:

Max Wilcox, a classical record producer and winner of 5 Grammys, who worked closely with Arthur Rubinstein, has died aged 88.

I wonder how many people have ever had an X in their first and last names? Must be pretty damned rare.

Conductor Jonathan Strasser has died from cancer aged 70. https://theviolinchannel.com/american-violinist-fame-condutor-jonathan-strasser-died-obituary/?utm_campaign=crowdfire&utm_content=crowdfire&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter#357582809-tw1489229913231

I'd not have bothered, but this is where he is most famous and it's one of my favourites (yes he's the conductor):

One of the most famous Polish musicians, Zbigniew Wodecki has died after a couple of weeks in the hospital recovering from a stroke. He was 67.

Edit: Whoops, wrong thread. I was only vaguely aware of his existence before he died (via social media posts from my Polish family and friends during Wodecki's hospitalization) and for some reason, I believed he was a classical composer. Couldn't be more off; was actually a pop star!

Television, film, and video games composer Daniel Licht, best known for his work on Showtime's "Dexter," died late Wednesday following a battle with cancer. He was 60.

Originally from Detroit, Licht's first major work was scoring the 1991 horror film "Children of the Night." His compositions caught the attention of Clive Barker, who tapped Licht to score "Hellraiser: Bloodline." Licht scored numerous horror films but also forayed into more mainstream fare like the Ben Stiller film "Permanent Midnight," and indies like "The Winner" and "Cowboy Up."

Licht's work on "Dexter" was well regarded, and each season's soundtrack was released for sale. Other television credits include "Oliver Beene," "Kitchen Confidential," "The Red Road," "Deception," and "Guilt."
