Violinist Jaap Schröder dead at 94 years on 1/1/2020.. I happen to have his fine recording of Bach sonatas and partitas. To Bladey Spears (the resident superhero) this is the first interesting death in 2020.

Actually, I really have seen Sykes' band Joglaresa live in concert.  Damned if I can remember which festival it was though, but they weren't a great choice after consuming vast amounts of drugs.

She showed up in my research too, but I cut her on obit grounds. Which I’m starting to regret a little now...

I saw Sykes presumably on the same website everyone else did (ie Slipped Disc, is it a secret when Reptiles quoted it so often?),  but am still unconvinced of her QO potential.

American Pianist Peter Serkin dead at 72 years:

https://www.inquirer.com/news/peter-serkin-curtis-institute-marlboro-rudolf-serkin-tashi-20200201.html

He won a 1966 Grammy Award when he was 19 for Best New Classical Artist/Most Promising New Classical Recording Artist and would go on to be nominated several more times throughout his career.

Who?

Presumably the musician who worked on shitloads of Disney films?

A DDP pick. I had a look around in January and could see nothing to say they died off radar last year.
