I wouldn't count an auxiliary veteran who never touched a weapon a veteran, I wonder how many women who fought in the war are still alive. Atleast Galina Brok-Beltsova, last veteran of the 588th Bomber Regiment "Night Witches" and Phyllis Latour, but I could also find:

Rasammah Bhupalan (1927-) Served in the female combat Rani Jhansi Regiment.

Probably still hundreds or thousands of them out there, especially women who served in the Soviet army

Lt. Galina Brok-Beltsova, last member of the Soviet women's aviation regiments dead at 99.

John Kinsel and Thomas Begay at a Navajo Code Talker event a month ago:

Kinsel (who might actually be "only" 102) is extremely frail and apparently it was a miracle he was well enough to attend even though it was held very near his home as he's been almost completely bedbound and in a near-death state for months. Begay looks well and is healthy enough to regularly attend events so I assume he'll be the last survivor. Peter MacDonald didn't attend.

Images from the Navajo Code Talkers Day, held on Wednesday. Peter MacDonald and John Kinsel somehow healthy enough to attend, neither look as bad as I thought they'd and apparently it's Thomas Begay who's in poor health now.

Along with Francis Huré, Hubert Germain (who just got a Telegraph obit), and Justus Rosenberg, that's four WWII resistants who had English Wiki pages dead in less than a month.

13 survivors from my Wiki watchlist:

Madeleine Riffaud turns 100 today. She looked very frail last year.

There can’t be too many people left for you folks to bump this thread. Is it fair to say whatever country's has the last person standing can claim ultimate WWII victory? Can’t wait to find out!

You'll have to wait until approximately 2040

When did the fucking thing start over there…1920?  The hell is wrong with MATHS over there?  Or maybe you were enlisting 6-year olds. Since @Joltin Joe ‘likes’ your post, maybe he could chime in with his formulae.

Child Soldiers are a thing that exists.

Or people who were 18 and signed up later on in the war. They'd be among the world's oldest, but it's possible and we are talking about the very last ones.

That as well but Sir Cunt still seems in disbelief that child soldiers exist.

Not even among the oldest. 110 year olds don’t really break the mold in terms of old age. Germany was regularly enlisting 16 year olds by the end of the war. So, someone born in 1929 living until 110 would die in 2039. Two of the last surviving WWI veterans made it to 110 and enlisted at the end of the war. This will assuredly be the case for the last WWII vets.

This is discounting the “child soldiers”, who would have likely been partisans and typically not part of a regular army. The issue of who counts as a veteran or not will make pinning down the last WWII soldier near impossible.

At 110+, you'd be among the world's oldest men.

Germany was throwing 12 year olds at the allies by the very end of the war, so once again you are wrong.

I suppose this is semantic. At 110 you are quite old, but among the oldest is rather a difficult category to place. The 50 current oldest living people are well over 110. It is important to remember that there are many women veterans of WWII. The assumption that the last veterans will be men is erroneous.

Once again your ability to be obtuse is astounding. I acknowledged your point about there being child soldiers. By 1945 Germany had lowered their conscription age to 16. The idea that the Nazi’s were forcing all of the 12 year olds in the Reich to fight is inane and a pointless contribution to this conversation. My point, which you obviously missed, is that Germany was regularly conscripting 16 year olds, and, as such, the original point of there still being veterans alive in 2040 is not at all far fetched. You and @Sir Creep should get together and make matching troll jackets.

They were doing exactly that however. Also it's Nazis.

Correct.  The only words that need an apostrophe to form a plural are single-letter words, eg

mind our p's and q's

dot the i's and cross the t's

Yesterday at Bletchley Park there was a reunion of 18 veterans. Their ages ranged from 97 to 'almost' 102.
