Anibal Pachano, argentine choreographer, dancer, actor and architect (?) has lung cancer that has spread to the brain:

In spite of his Wikipedia page, I think he'll fall short of an obit.

Lucian Pintilie, a leading Romanian stage and film director who clashed with the Communist authorities in his home country and was forced from it for a time as a result, died on Wednesday in Bucharest. He was 84.

His friend Corina Suteu, a former culture minister of Romania, confirmed his death but did not give the cause.

Mr. Pintilie was a provocateur by the standards of Communist Romania, incurring the wrath of Nicolae Ceausescu, the country’s leader from the mid-1960s until his overthrow and execution in 1989.

Eventually Mr. Pintilie left the country, working in France, the United States and elsewhere until after the fall of Communism.

French film director Luc Besson accused of rape by an anonymous actress:

After absolutely ruining the wonderful French comic Valerian in his recent film adaptation of it, I say lock him away for life.

Tsehaytu Beraki, Eritrean pop singer and activist (mention in The Guardian), has reportedly died aged 80.

Kassé Mady Diabaté, Malian singer (profile on the BBC, review in The Guardian), has died aged 69.

Intrigued to see if The Guardian follows up their edgy, overly obscure, cultural pieces with the honour of obituaries.

There is an unconfirmed report, based on a Twitter posting, that director Peter Clifton, who co-directed the Led Zeppelin documentary 'The Song Remains the Same', recently died.  No corroborating evidence just yet.  However, the recent confirmation of the death of actor Robert Mandan came about a week after a tweet was sent by a friend noting his passing.
