Deathray 2,940 Posted April 6, 2014 Okay that's your interpretation of the "maths".. The bookies actually say a hung parliament is most likely. What I'm interested in is reasons to vote for Ed Miliband and there don't really seem to be any other than to get Cameron out. I wonder how many times people in the eighties said that Kinnock would win the next election when he used to have big leads in the polls and then he didn't. How can you be so confident when Miliband is down? This is a bit harsh on Miliband; energy price freeze, jobs guarantee for long term unemployed and reduction in tuition fees. There's three reasons to vote for him, still not really enough to get my vote on his name in 2015 yet though.

I wonder how many times people in the eighties said that Kinnock would win the next election when he used to have big leads in the polls and then he didn't. How can you be so confident when Miliband is down? Kinnock had the opposite problem to Milliband he was an excellent speaker and laid out his left of centre stall for all to see. Yet his lack of judgement (Sheffield) and a hostile right wing press meant the 1992 campaign ended in failure but if the Torys had lost in 1992 would they have been out of power for 18 years? Spade_Cooley 9,515 Posted November 25, 2015 Kicks off PMQs today by mentioning his principal private secretary, Chris Martin, has died aged 42 from sarcoma. Make your own The Scientist/Yellow gags here.
Dr. Zorders 1,271 Posted November 25, 2015 Well he was already dead cos he's an uncivil serpent obviously, they are the weirdest most thick-headed, dead inside people. So now he's just officially dead. In fact you can bet your life this guy was a massive fan of the other Chris Martin. Now I think about it, because it trivialized these people and made them seem cute and clever, Yes Prime Minister probably has to be ranked as one of the worst things in human history, the fact that my mum liked it so much was probably a pretty good hint. *goes off to scribble this newly found revelation down*

These newspaper polls are rarely even slightly fair and balanced but even so I accept 96% is a helluva big number.

Someone once told me it was a fairly unbiased newspaper so I was going by that. Is the Independent the only truly independent UK paper then? (DJL still has trouble navigating the biases and factional allegiances of all these Fleet Street rags... At least in Australia it is simple since Murdoch controls just about everything singlehandedly... )
Davey Jones' Locker 1,324 Posted April 8, 2016 FWIW, to balance things here is the Tory-leaning Telegraph and they feel he has mishandled it but they aren't quite calling for their leader's head [yet]. In their poll, 78% of people are saying politicians should make their tax returns public: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/04/07/david-cameron-has-disastrously-mishandled-the-crisis-over-his-ta/

maryportfuncity 10,639 Posted April 8, 2016 The one thing that'll keep him in office is the evil scheming behind the scenes predictability of his fellow Nasty Party members; none of whom will want to declare their interest for the top job until the EU referendum is over. In any case, he's going during the present parliament. So, if the Brexit mob win he'll go sooner rather than later and if the Remain lot edge it he'll hang on until Osbourne, May and anyone else who wants a go have had a chance to set out their stalls and the gloves come off all round.
Lord Fellatio Nelson 6,218 Posted April 9, 2016 Well it was heartening to see all those 'Socialist Workers Party' members( didn't think they needed their own party now Corbyn has taken the helm at Labour) and assorted Anarchists and some of our middle classes with fuck all better to do demonstrate, en masse, outside the Connaught Rooms demanding that Cameron resign. It surely was a case of a man devoid of any sense of reality harangued by a mob of people equally devoid of any sense of reality.
Davey Jones' Locker 1,324 Posted April 11, 2016 British politics is none of my business but I found this comment on some Scottish independence site I stumbled across that caused me to smile: What’s a unionist to do on 5 May? There’s the tax dodging pig f*ckers on one hand, or the bank bailing school collapsers on the other. Don’t envy British nationalists that choice.

Cat O'Falk 3,290 Posted April 12, 2016 The electorate need to remember the day to give David Cameron an electoral kicking is 5th May not 23rd June I've never understood why people advocate punishing the party running the Westminster government by voting against that party in the local government elections. If my local council is doing what I consider to be a great job, why would I vote them out because their colleagues at Westminster are arseholes? Surely the time to kick the Westminster government up the arse is at the next general election.
