Death in Vegas 3 Posted February 9, 2007 Sailing photographer Keith Beken has died aged 92. He sounds a bit obscure to me but he must have achieved some degree of fame for his death to be reported on the BBC's website.

Octopus of Odstock 2,187 Posted March 19, 2008 Phillip Jones Griffiths, the legendary Vietnam war photographer has died of lung cancer at the age of 72. Oh jolly bean. Another hit for my lacklustre 2008 season & another hit for my very strong CPDP season. However, not so jolly bean as that's a 3rd update for the DDP. May have to do that tonight if I get 30 mins spare..

Whitehouse 872 Posted April 12, 2008 Netherlands. Not known to many, cameraman Jan Schaper died. He was the one who filmed the legendary Stones consert in the Scheveningen Kurhaus on August 8th 1964. It was the very first Stones gig in history that was interupted due to riots. It was also their very first gig outside their native England. From the Kurhaus website: So, too, the Rolling Stones, whose performance in the Kurhaus, though notorious, was the shortest they ever gave (1964).

I'll be shocked if The Independent doesn't give him an obituary. It's a paper I buy every day and I'm always amazed at some of the people they give obituaries to e.g. they gave one to ufologist John A. Keel the other day..... The level of someones intelligence and acumen should never be measured against whether they are Broadsheet or Tabloid. Somebody on this very forum is probably more intelligent than the rest of us put together but their posting style and modesty wouldnt have you guessing it was them in a million years. Thats being truly clever. Dont let them think that you are.

I don't think "Ooooo what's Victoria Beckham been wearing this week?" or "What has Prince Harry done wrong now" qualify as being intellectual
