Another one down the road from me.

Actually, of more interest was the article about the police clampdown on dogging.

I suppose, down your way, its kept strictly within the family, eh?

Dogging is rife round here. And I STILL can't get laid :(

The British Mountaineering Council has published a helpful guide for members on how to avoid annoying cows.

I would have thought yak attacks would be more relevant to mountineers, but there you go.

The survivor of this attack has been discharged from hospital. It has transpired that the killer cows involved already had a fearsome reputation for launching vicious attacks on unsuspecting ramblers.

The chairman of the Sussex Ramblers Association has told the Daily Telegraph that he blames "aggressive foreign cows" for the recent rise in bovine attacks.

Not an attack, but a man has died after a cow fell through a roof and landed on him as he was sleeping.

54 y/o Dutch farmer killed by own bull.

I don't expect this shocking news to receive English language coverage.

Hein

Meanwhile in South Yorkshire, bovine attackers not content with stalking and trampling elderly dog walkers, have gone one better and launched a two pronged attack on a younger, quicker type of quarry; a fell runner no less, who was leading two hundred competitors before fate rather unkindly intervened. The victim had five broken ribs and had to seek refuge in some bushes to await rescue.

*Celebrity Cow Trampling Alert*

Blur bassist Alex James has spoken movingly about how he narrowly avoided marauding cattle on his farm in the Cotswolds.

Ten seconds later it had gone totally to shit and they stampeded — I was in mortal peril. I had to run into a pond, up to my knees. They were all tossing around, scraping the ground with their hooves. [...] Nothing is as scary as that.

James is evidently a man who says what he thinks and means what he says. Although I suppose it isn't obvious how the first proposition could in any case be true and the second one false. Notwithstanding this unorthodox piece of logic, it appears James feared for his life and this fear adds validity to the suggestion in this thread that it is only a matter of time before a celebrity buys the farm, so to speak, by way of a bovine attack.

To add context to the story, James is planning to lend his farm to Jamie Oliver for a festival, which surely gives the cattle ample justification in stampeding to just about anywhere else, even if it does mean crushing the odd Brit-pop icon who may happen to be standing in their way.
