Davey Jones' Locker 1,324 Posted February 22, 2018 To be fair, I came across an article today where he admits he made mistakes, including the fact that he had provided a theological veneer of justification for US imperialism: "I came close to identifying the American way of life with the kingdom of God... Then I realized that God had called me to a higher kingdom than America. I have tried to be faithful to my calling as a minister of the gospel." Also, "To underline how far his thinking had evolved, he said that he now thought that President Truman had "made a mistake in dropping that first atomic bomb" on Japan. "I wish we had never developed it," he said of the bomb. "I have seen that we must seek the good of the whole human race, and not just the good of any one nation or race."" "Until his dying day [note: that'd be today - DJL ], he believed that communism was a malevolent attempt to usurp the sovereignty of God on earth. But he changed in how he thought Christians should behave towards Communists—the people, not the ideology—and in how he thought the gospel should be presented to regimes that officially rejected Christianity. Graham came to believe that direct confrontation with wicked regimes would not work. His new approach to dealing with communist regimes was an extension of his approach to working for the propagation of the gospel with people whose Christian theology differed sharply from his own—and to the fundamentalists was sheer anathema." He was an evil murderous apologist for imperialism: "To some, he was "America's Pastor," a benign pater familias blessing the nation. To others, he was the country's leading hypocrite, in one moment preaching a gospel of love and, in another, advising presidents to escalate the war in Vietnam." https://www.npr.org/2018/02/24/587809173/billy-graham-walked-a-line-and-regretted-crossing-over-it-when-it-came-to-politi "His support for the war in Vietnam was so enthusiastic that on April 15,1969, after meeting with missionaries from Vietnam, Graham sent a memo to the White House urging that, if the peace talks in Paris failed, Nixon should bomb the dikes that held back floodwaters in the North. This, said Graham, “could overnight destroy the economy of North Vietnam.” It would also have destroyed countless villages, sending as many as a million civilians to their deaths." https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2018/02/21/billy-graham-death-richard-nixon-217039 "The most important clergyman for Christian libertarianism, though, was the Rev. Billy Graham. In his initial ministry, in the early 1950s, Mr. Graham supported corporate interests so zealously that a London paper called him “the Big Business evangelist.” The Garden of Eden, he informed revival attendees, was a paradise with “no union dues, no labor leaders, no snakes, no disease.” In the same spirit, he denounced all “government restrictions” in economic affairs, which he invariably attacked as “socialism.” https://www.nytimes.com/2015/03/15/opinion/sunday/a-christian-nation-since-when.html

Totally inappropriate but not unexpected for such a careless and extreme administration. This could not be a more up-in-your-face violation of our principle of separating church and state. InquilineKea 75 Posted February 27, 2023 1,267,174 views Premiered Feb 21, 2022 In Billy Graham’s final days, he had a deep desire to preach one more time. This is his last message—recorded in his North Carolina, mountaintop home. He doesn't even look that bad in that video.. I was on the impression that he was barely functional for years before his death.. (this seems recorded years before his death - he was already in poor shape even in the late 2000s - he was in poor health for over a decade before death, which strangely seems more the exception than norm for most famous people these days) He mentioned "eternal life" in 9:18.. Interesting how they added 9 months to his lifespan, calling him a centenarian. This movie actually affected me more strongly than I thought it would. got released. But his "final crusade" happened 13 years before he actually died..
tiagosccarvalho 2 Posted February 1 (edited) I think this photo has never been posted here, but I found a photo of Billy Graham from 8 March 2015 and honestly, while he doesn't look particularly healthy, he looks much better than that photo from 2014 in which he was bedridden. I always thought he was bedridden for years until his death Edited February 1 by tiagosccarvalho I forgot some information
