Yep, awaiting further details but Sir C is closest on date.

Both Book and I were correct on gender.

Sorry, pet hate.

Next Royal baby due in April, they say...http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-41655914

But then they said that about Charlotte and I won the last competition by going late, mwahahahaha...

Might run the sweepstake again around March if anyone's interested...

I really feel that this time they may delve further back into history for royal names.

So Cnut if it's a boy and Sexburga for a girl.

I think that they might surprise us.

Philippa or Elizabeth for a girl and I keep thinking James for a boy even though Viscount Seven is called James.

Perhaps a Kayden or a Tyga

Yes but her sister is Philippa and her brother is James.

It seems to be very much frowned upon these days to give your children the names of close relatives.

Elizabeth is one of Charlotte's names, I can't see them repeating it.

I wish they would show a bit of imagination, but I fear we are in for something obvious again.

George - Great Grandfather  & Charlotte feminine of Charles.

I forgot Charlotte had Elizabeth as one of her middle names or that Catherine had a brother James.

If it is a boy they should call him Spencer to annoy everyone.

If it's a boy, they could surprise us with John.  That was Diana's father's name.

I know people say the Royals think it's unlucky because of Prince John, the Queen's uncle, but all the Royal names have some sort of baggage*.

But they are unlikely to pick John because it's deeply unfashionable, and Wills&Kate seem to be tediously conventional in that respect.

Same goes for another Royal name, Richard, currently only occupied by the Duke of Gloucester afaik.

Arthur and Alfred Alfie are trendy.

I can see them choosing Alice for a girl.  The other obvious Royal candidates are Victoria and Mary, but again they are unfashionable.

*Actually Charlotte could have been dismissed as unlucky, because of Princess Charlotte, only child of George IV.  She would have succeeded him as monarch, but she died in childbirth aged 21.

Are Charlotte and George currently fashionable names? They seemed a bit 1950s.

Charlotte has been in the top 10 for a long time.

Charlotte 12th in 2017

and confusingly George was 3rd most popular on the boys list but whether that is in response to George could be debated.

It is also to be noted that a lot of 'old fashioned' names are making a comeback where children are named for Grandparents.

If it's for the last 12 months, might George Michael's death last Christmas have contributed to that a bit too?

We won't know 2017 figures for another year - they are usually issued in about September for the previous year, so we will have to wait to see if George Michael's death has any effect.

2012  George 12, Charlotte 20

2013  George 10, Charlotte 21

2014  George  7, Charlotte 23

2015  George  4, Charlotte 25

2016  George  3, Charlotte 12

So George is steadily rising, but both names were in the top 20 before the birth of Prince George.

They could piss off the Windsors and name her Diana.

Diana is one of Charlotte's middle names so that seems unlikely. I don't think we'll see Diana as a first name until George and Charlotte start to breed.

Amelia is another possibility for a girl.  Another Hanoverian Royal name.  And currently very common trendy.

Would Matilda be an option for a girl? That seem to be quite trendy at the moment too.

It could indeed.  Matilda's at 25.

I think the name (if a girl) is odds-on to be among the top 25, as below.

Andy Murray and his wife, new daughter. Apparently.

They'll never sleep again.

For some reason I thought there was a sweepstake on that, but it was for his last kid.
