Doing a bit of research, here's a list of Indian centenarians marked living on wikipedia + potential soon-to-be centenarians (2021 or 2022). Here's who are alive after the deaths of 2021:

1922:

Karthyayani Amma (1922-) Woman who passed literacy exam at 96

Vimla Sood (1922-1st of August 2021) First woman to become a dentist in India

Ravipudi Venkatadri (9th of February 1922) Writer, activist. Could have born in 1921 as they celebrated his 100th already this february but everything points to 1922. Frailish.

Krishnarao Gulabrao Deshmukh (8th of March 1922-Alive?) Politician, Lok Sabha member 1967-1977

P. A. Thomas (22nd of March 1922-Alive?) Director, producer

Narendra R Deoghare (2nd of May 1922-Alive?) Politician, Lok Sabha member 1967-1971

S. G. Balekundri (5th of May 1922-Alive?) Irrigation expert. Doesn't seem to be alive, could have died a very long time ago.

P. Sabanayagam (7th of June 1922-) Politician

P. Gopinathan Nair (7th of July 1922-) Social worker, in great condition.

Balwant Moreshwar Purandare (29th of July 1922-) Writer, theatre personality. As of 14th of November 2021, in critical condition with pneumonia.

Yumnam Yaima Singh (28th of August 1922-OTR 3rd of March 2017) Politician, Lok Sabha member 1991-1996

S. H. Sarma (1st of December 1922-) Admiral, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet during the Indo-Pakistani war of 1971

Rustom Sorabji "Rusi" Cooper (15th of December 1922-) First-class cricketer, longest-lived first-class player in the history of Middlesex County Cricket Club

Syed Shah Mohammed Hussaini (29th of December 1922-OTR 2007) Educationalist, according to some sources died in 2007. Edit: Seems to be dead.

Syed Shah Mohammed Hussaini is dead and died already in 2007 according to this and this, sites of colleges he founded.

Yumnam Yaima Singh died in 2017 according to facebook and twitter (https://twitter.com/airnewsalerts/status/837619646731726849)

Deshmukh and Deoghare seem very dead. I'll mark them dead next year unless they turn out to be alive on their 100th.

P. A. Thomas and S. G. Balekundri are odd cases. Thomas was alive in 2002, could have died since.

There's an institute of technology named after S. G. Balekundri but he doesn't appear in any photos AFAIK and they don't seem to mention if he's dead or still alive.

Anyway he is on life support with pneumonia.

No doubt he has the usual Indian "improving" up his sleeve.

Jessie Lichauco hasn't even received one mention of her death outside of Facebook. She only got a Wiki article aged 102. Would she have gotten one if she died aged 80? Probably not. Her family really seem to have pushed her profile in recent years.

The only obit that I found about Lichauco's death https://www.inqmemories.com.ph/2021/11/12/jessie-coe-lichauco/

One of the other articles says she was the last of the "first generation of anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters" (whatever that means).

She was interred in the Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery (wiki).
First and only time I will compliment the North Koreans. They certainly bury their statesmen and war heroes with a touch of class.

Dead, but the 85 pictures remain.

(and, if you missed the context... The Daily Mail covered it in 2012 https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2095400/Ria-van-Dijk-takes-photograph-fairground-rifle-range-year-1936.html

Article from the Episcopalian Church mentioning the death yesterday of William Evan Sanders (wiki), just a month shy of 102.

The oldest bishop in the Episcopalian Church I imagine.

Ken Casanega (wikidead at 100.

Last surviving member of the original 49ers.

EDIT: I THINK the oldest former NFL player is now Charley Trippi (wiki), who turns 100 in December.

Don Johnson (wiki) and Earle Parsons (wiki) do not have death dates on Wikipedia or on any of the sports stats sites, but I'm pretty certain they're deceased.

As suspected, Earle Parsons is dead. There's an obit for him in this 2015 49ers magazine here. Died December 18, 2014, aged 93.

Still can't find anything for Don Johnson.

As Parsons is dead, I'm almost certain that Charley Trippi is the oldest former NFL player.

Yes, I wondered that last week. Though they don’t have everyone included on that site.

He was alive up to 2019 but I reckon he may have passed since.

The GRO update will reveal the answer.

102-year old "Nanda Sir" Nanda Prusty received the Padma Shri award three weeks ago:

And has now been hospitalised and is in critical condition with covid, fever and "old-age ailments"

Seems like Pappammal was also in that video, in a wheelchair in the background. And that Prusty's age went from 98 to 102 in a couple of weeks?

A summary of Indian centenarians (those who have Wiki pages)

*snip*

Living in India (11):

b. 1910/1911?: Saalumarada Thimmakka, environmentalist
b. 24 May 1914: Aiyappan Pillai, lawyer
b. ??  ??  1914: Pappammal, organic farmer
b. 01 Jul 1917: Shyam Saran Negi, the first person to cast a vote in India's first election in 1951
b. 26 Feb 1919: S. K. Paramasivan, politician
b. 16 Dec 1919: Yadlapati Venkatarao, politician
b. 20 Jul 1920: Thanga Darlong, folk musician
b. ?? Oct 1920: Pravrajika Bhaktiprana, Hindu nun
b. 11 Dec 1920: Prithipal Singh Gill, the only officer to have served in all 3 branches of India's military
b. 02 May 1921: B. B. Lal, archaeologist
b. 15 Jul 1921: N. Sankaraiah, politician and independence activist
(no others turning 100 in 2021 to my knowledge)

*snip*

Not dead, just found this story somewhat amusing.

The commissioner in his local district is vowing punishment for those saying that Shyam Saran Negi is dead. It appears Negi has been the victim of a few death hoaxes on social media lately, and they're not at all amused.

Makes a nice change to see someone in India finally acknowledge their recurring problem of premature death notices

An interesting name I stumbled upon a while ago...

Itoi Kanji (Japanese wiki page), celebrating his 101st birthday on the 2nd of December, already 101 as he lives in Japan and it's past midnight there. He's an avantgarde artist, dadaist and the "father of Japanese Happening art", was a coal miner during WWII and did hard physical work until the 1950s when he became an artist. These happenings, including nude ones caused him to get arrested multiple times in the 60s and the 70s, was also sent into a psychiatric hospital atleast once.

1970

Worked until atleast the 2010s. Picture from last year:

I feel like soon we might enter an era where there will be no living notable supercentenarians. Not mentioning the ones who might not be the age they claim to be, there are only six notable centenarians born before 1914 currently:

1. Stanisław Kowalski (1910-) Polish masters athlete and reason why the M105 WMA division was created in 2015, in great condition and potential future World's Oldest Man. The current world's oldest man is only 14 months older than he is.

2. Marita Camacho Quiros (1911-) First Lady of Costa Rica 1962-1966, widow of Francisco Orlich Bolmarcich (1907-1969). Wheelchair-bound and likely a dementia sufferer.

3. Eileen Ash (1911-2021) Cricketer, played seven test matches for England 1937-1949. Declined during the last year, could turn out to be a strong one though. Died ca. 3rd of December 2021.

4. Jessie Lichauco (1912-2021) Cuban-born American-Filipino philanthropist, turned her house into a makeshift hospital during WWII, widow of diplomat Marcial Lichauco (1902-1971). Frail and in a wheelchair. Died ca. 3rd of November 2021.

5 4 3. Dagny Carlsson (1912-) Swedish blogger and television personality. Has suffered from lung-related health issues, recently moved to a nursing home and donated her house to a cancer research foundation.

6 5 4. Boris Pahor (1913-) Slovene novelist living in Italy known for Necropolis. Has looked horrible for over a decade, skeletal for the last three years and looked like an eldritch abomination on his 108th last month. However he can still walk.

Updated for the death of Eileen Ash.

Reading about Carlsson, she apparently had a fall right after her 109th birthday that caused her to be hospitalised but is now better and started writing on her blog again recently.
