Hmm she had only been on my radar for about 2 years. First time she was mentioned on the Forum was April 2020.

But looked like a cadaver for at least five-six years. I seriously considered her for the list of immortals, then forgot her.

Francisco Raúl Villalobos Padilla dead at 101.

Seems he was diagnosed on Thursday 27th Jan as an asymptomatic COVID-19 case. He remained a mild/asymptomatic case until yesterday, when his health suddenly deteriorated.

Thai royal Induratana Paribatra has reportedly reached 100. Can't find any pictures or anything, but I would expect her death would've been noticed by the Thai press. Considering she looked frail years ago, seems like Thailand now has two very frail royal centenarians.

Another 2/2/2022 centenarian is Shmuel Agmon.

Also, Yuri Averbakh's birthday is in a couple of days. If still alive on the 8th, he'll become the first Chess GM to reach 100.

well apparently I'm completely wrong and dumb at the same time but here is a few French centenarian names that I just found about and that I never heard off here

• Dorette Ardenne (b.1919) : oldest French actress

• Lucienne Legrand (b.1920) : French actress

• Jean Pierre Gredy (b.1920) : author

• André Chandernargor (b.1921) : French politician

• Michel Klein (b.1921) : veterinarian and animator

• Valérie André (b. 1922) : pilot and resistant

I let you decide wether they're alive or not, apparently the absence of death certificate doesn't mean that people are alive and you look like an expert in this field.

Jean Pierre Gredy dead at 101 : + 1 for my french list

Yuri Averbakh is 100 today, first Chess Grandmaster to become a centenarian.

https://www.chess.com/news/view/yuri-averbakh-100-years

Apparently he was hospitalised with covid around June 2021 and was offered a month of treatment in a recovery center by the Russian Chess Federation. He's still involved in chess and says that he's "doing well" for his age. Article doesn't have any new pictures.

Should also note that there were 3 centenarian deaths yesterday (10th Feb). Have to wonder that, along with the supercentenarians being run through, if there isn't a similar thing happening with centenarians as well? All names mentioned above have died in the last 5 days (6th Feb-10th Feb), and that's without counting names already mentioned in this thread + people without English Wikipedia pages who nonetheless got local obits

Alive centenarians from countries and dependencies with smaller populations.  (under 20 million, only ones born over 100 years before this post.)

Estonian mathematician Ülo Lepik dead at 100, missed the cutoff for the quoted post by about 4 months (turned 100 in July last year):

Doesn't seem to be a Centenarians DP pick.

Has anyone done a list of the most picked people in it this year? I'll list some of the ones picked over 5 times:

Carmen Herrera (Artist, 1915)

Cuban-born American artist Carmen Herrera (wiki) finally dead at 106.

NY Times obit.

A DDP pick for 2 teams. Should get a QO.

1915 down to four names (plus two who have not a Wiki page at the moment):

1)Ma Shitu: immortal Chinese writer with a plethora of health issues, most notably lung and skin cancer.

2)Frances Hesselbein: cranky American CEO.

3)Isabel Crook: Canadian anthropologist living in China, who was reportedly ill in 2020, but has bounced back.

4)James Clayton Flowers: Tuskegee airman who has been ill for years.

These are the two with no English wiki page, both military figures, with some levels of fame in their countries:

Masao Horie: Japanese military figure, former member of the House of Councillors. In an article from a year ago he says that got a perfect score on a cognitive function test at over 100 and eats food made by cooking researchers to prevent pulmonary aspiration. Dead

Jozef Caban: Social activist, WWII vet and last pre-war member of the National Party. Still able to stand in September 2021. DEAD

Still, a much weaker year than 1914 (10 living notable people, 1 without an English wikipedia page) and 1916 (15 living notable people, 2 without an English wikipedia page)

There's a thread called "World's Oldest" for oldest people of countries, people notable for being old etc.

Also, she died in April 2021.
