Well the oldest person in my local Conservative association is 108 (still lives independently) so the fact that the oldest Labour member was “only” 105 suggests that their centenarian demographic probably ain’t that strong.

Worth noting also that Samuel Lombardo died in June, aged 101.

The four 100-year-old World War II veterans who participated in the coin toss at Super Bowl LIV in Feb 2020:

Odón S. Cardenas (b. 1919)
Samuel Lombardo (1919–2021)
Charles E. McGee (1919–2022) wiki
Sidney Walton (1919–2021) wiki

Revisiting this nearly two years on... no recent news but Cardenas appears to still be alive. He presumably turned 104 on July 30. @Gisooo, he doesn't appear on Accurint?

Carl Richardson (wiki) American college football coach at Eastern New Mexico University, dead at 102.

I had my doubts as to whether he was still living (as last covered by the press in 1989). Mystery solved I guess.

Akintola Williams (Nigeria's first chartered accountant, 103, pick in Centenarians DP) made an appearance this month at the Akintola Williams youth debate:

akintola.png.fb56e09534f7e75191215b2a551e71bc.png

There's a video on youtube, but it's honestly quite painful to watch. I'm not sure how long he was there (the event lasted over six hours) but towards the end there was a guy trying to keep him from sleeping during the debates and speeches, then they wheeled him in front of the crowd for pictures for around ten minutes, didn't seem very lucid, didn't talk at all or even wave at the crowd and he fell asleep around every half a minute.

Akintola Williams (wiki) finally dead (channeling drol) at 104.

News report.

EDIT: By my record keeping this means that Chris Ogunbanjo (wiki), who turns 100 in December, is the oldest Nigerian with a Wikipedia page (unless he's died off radar).

I agree it's Ogunbanjo, seems still alive according to articles from last month (but on the other hand, he seems to be very frail). There's a local ruler called Joseph Chike Edozien whose birthdate has been 1922, 1924 and 1925 but as always the latest is usually the correct one (1925) and they didn't start inflating his age until very recently. In a year he'll be two years older.

Akintola was or seems to have been also the oldest person from the continent with a Wikipedia page at the time of his death...

The title seems to go to drol's immortals David Musuguri, 103 (but...a Nyerere biographer who met him in 2011 has claimed he's three years younger and "only" 100, who knows :banghead:) or Amadou-Mahtar M'Bow, 102.

(I don't believe Paul Mwazha or Osman Nuhu Sharubutu both who claim to be 104, especially Mwazha is a very suspicious case. While there's been a succession battle going on for atleast three years, he's likely atleast 10 years younger and multiple sources have said that he was born 1928 instead of 1918, for example this article from 2015. There have also been different stories about his childhood and early adulthood.)

Marcel Reichstein was born on September 13, 1913 in Bucharest, Romania, died in Ness Ziona, Central District, Israel on Sep 27, 2022, believed to be the oldest person living in Israel, however he died off the radar, this person is probably now Aziz Levy, born in Iraq on 1/apr/1915 and living in Haifa, but there has been no news of him since Jan/22
