Is that team and amendment to your existing team (sent via PM) under the guidelines set out above, if so you may have a very boring 2019 in this competition?

I thought the WC/Joker was a nice touch.

@Prophet Your team requires a bit of refinement. It currently stands at 1 short of a full complement due to including two Richard Overton's and two Shivakumari whatshisface's, please send a replacement and new subs.

@Joey Russ I've subbed in Herman Wouk for your Richard Overton, you may send more subs through.

@WhoamI I've subbed in Ray Lawler for your Richard Overton, you may also send more subs through.

@YoungWillz - you're also entitled to send a sub or two as a replacement for Bill Sellars.

Anyone with less than 5 subs is permitted to top the subs bench up to 5. You may also change your existing team up until 23:59 GMT (18:59 EST) on the 31st December (10:59 ACT, 1st December), put please notify me of these changes via PM either as a response (don't edit the original PM or change your posts in this thread) , as I take a copy of your initial list and dump it on an excel spreadsheet so these changes will not be caught unless sent to me directly as a new PM or new post in this thread.

And for clarification as there's always one - I will not be accepting late entries this year. No leeway at all.

Thanks mate - you can add Glynis Johns as another sub if you like.

As with many questions like this, the answer can be found in Post 1.

Whilst there is rules on QO's, I'd strongly suggest they weren't a celebrity if you couldn't scrape this low a barrier of entry. A lot of our foreign members like to enter local folk from their country in this due to foreign language acceptance, and I love reading those lists, Always a few new and interesting characters to learn about each year. Hope this answers your question, and would love to see a team from you. :)

Quote
  • Celebrities qualify if they achieve an obituary or article about their death in a local, national or even specialist newspaper - the article does not need to specifically relate to their death, instead just mention it and date it. or website/magazine/paper. If in doubt cite your death note for approval. There is absolutely no requirement for obits to be in the English language, however translations should be provided if they are not.

Anything fro Norsk Sjakblad (the Norweigan Chess magazine) provided a translation is given to the BBC is acceptable.

Can you state a wildcard please, in the absence of any indication I've taken your first pick Julie Andrews to be WC, if this is incorrect let me know by close of play tomorrow. Thanks.

A full scoreboard will be posted on New Years Day, but to give an overview of where we are at on this all important 614 point day.

That's 10 teams that can win with a normal New Year's Eve hit. (614 points)

+ another 3 teams who can win with a wildcard hit (978) [Torva Messor, Joey Russ, Captain Chorizo, ) [4 of the 10-17th points eligible have already lost there wildcard, meaning they now require two normal hits to win.]

Multiple deaths or hitting the same pick as people up the table from you obviously screws this, but it's a nice exciting finish. And as always everyone can still mathematically win, even Widow's Peak...

Don Lusk has just died.

Does DI have a deal with the devil to kill a centenarian on every single December 30th? :o:D

Cheers for the above @msc and @gcreptile

Death Impends and Wormfarmer score a basic but very healthy 363 with the death of Don Lusk - who died yesterday, slight movement on the deadline day table for Wormfarmer, but certainly not all over yet at the top as Death Impends takes a late lead....

The top 10 teams can still all win with a 614 point NYE death.

A 978 point NYE wildcard death will see likely victory for Torva Messor, CaptainChorizo or Joey Russ.

Everybody else needs at least 2 of their favoured celebrities to die today (or as with Don Lusk come out of the woodwork) from ea to claim victory. Of course we may not know for certain how this stands for several days to come.

Tad more inconsequential (at this point) shifting around the bottom.

Peter Thompson the Liverpool footballer who died "at the weekend", is a 363 point hit for FujiMoriNoMorey, until further clarification it'll be awarded as a Sunday death until an official date comes through (with over a week I'm confident that will appear before finalisation however if not it will remain as a Sunday death - this follows the Patrick Cryne precedent from early this year).

The revised leader-board. Any more for any more today folks?

@Deathray Fujimori's pick was Peter Thomson the golfer and should already have been awarded points for the golfer's death in June.

Whilst I'm not winning this barring a coachload of folk on the way to a Beatles Reunion, I'd rather a player wasn't getting points for two folk similarly named!
