YoungWillz 21,024 Posted January 1, 2017 Not so much lazy, but after last year I don't understand why I should turn in different teams to DDP (20 names) and Hare's (25 names) so I just added the 'next best five names and wa-lah! I really didn't have the balls to put my conjoined twins in DDP when they really aren't ill. But a perfect landing place for Hare's! And look, my dumb ass didn't forget Glen Campbell this time! msc 18,436 Posted January 1, 2017 It's up to you, YW, but I'm the charitable sort, and SC did miss the Deathrace, so leniency, perhaps? PS - The phrasing sounds like he sent you it by PM? Or thinks it was sent by PM?
Joey Russ 7,220 Posted January 1, 2017 Soares is probably dead as well. Do it but only let him compete with 24.

From the rules; The game runner is permitted to permit a team submitting within the first few days of January at their own discretion, under the proviso no other teams have scored upon the late teams entry.
YoungWillz 21,024 Posted January 1, 2017 In for now, then. Depending on the Soares situation, I'll possibly need an additional name posted on this thread by 23:59 GMT to make a complete team. Otherwise Sir C you'll end up in the same boat you were in last year (Double Mushatt-Jones...)

YoungWillz 21,024 Posted January 1, 2017 All righty, so Sir Creep had Huston Smith and an obit has appeared in answer to his prayers, placing him second behind long term leader, gcreptile. Edit: Due to a spelling error in the previous Masterlist, I see that Whoaml also had Zsa Zsa, and so needs some points added. Got a week to discover any other 2016, expirees before I close this one and crown the winner. Deathray 2,940 Posted January 3, 2017 I've updated the OP stats book; We have additions to the 363 point overall record score with Huston Smith and Tyrus Wong. We have a new name at the head of the all-time leaderboard with gcreptile's score from this year and the only time more than 2000 points have been scored; that will surely take some beating. Congratulations. We have a new record number of hits - 13 by Sir Creep and gcreptile in 2016. And a record number of entrants at 24 - double the number entered upon it's first outing three years ago. All the best to YounWillz in running the competition from now on, and all the best to everyone in the competition, but not too much good luck as I'd like to at least put up a strong performance.
YoungWillz 21,024 Posted January 3, 2017 Ta, big man! Technically as it's Deathray's game up to this year, he's effectively closed it for 2016. Let's face it, if someone comes out of the woodwork now, it's unlikely to change anything. I'd like to congratulate gcreptile on his victory, and also to Sir Creep for silver and The Unknown Man for bronze. Yours truly ends up in the playoff position and sadly Bibliogryphon gets 2016's wooden spoon.

I'd like to congratulate gcreptile on his victory, and also to Sir Creep for silver and The Unknown Man for bronze. Yours truly ends up in the playoff position and sadly Bibliogryphon gets 2016's wooden spoon. I was deliberately trying to keep one step of short of closing it for 2016 to be frank. That's on your territory (if any amendment to the OP needed to be made, I'm sure I can). Just given the large point gap and lack of known reasons to assume any game-changing 31st hits, thought now might be a good time to update the historical records. And to clarify 363 points remains universal high score, including jokers (none of whom appeared to have died late enough in the year to usurp the points total).
gcreptile 10,963 Posted January 3, 2017 I don't know...somehow I still expect the passing of some minor name to alter the scoreboard. I'll accept the victory in two, three days.
Sir Creep 7,070 Posted January 3, 2017 Not so much lazy, but after last year I don't understand why I should turn in different teams to DDP (20 names) and Hare's (25 names) so I just added the 'next best five names and wa-lah! I really didn't have the balls to put my conjoined twins in DDP when they really aren't ill. But a perfect landing place for Hare's! And look, my dumb ass didn't forget Glen Campbell this time! SirC Sent Today, 01:21 PM Sir Creep Vincent Mullins Sub: Kevin Carey I've been told Mullins died a couple months ago. I haven't confirmed but I'll presume it's true. Out with Mullins IN with Kevin Carey. SC
YoungWillz 21,024 Posted January 7, 2017 Time to slam the door shut on 2016! (Oh, shut that door!) Now first of all, I have been through the 2016 lists for the umpteenth time. The detailed leaderboard is here: https://forums.deathlist.net/topic/8314-the-hares-death-pool/?p=289369 and I'm pretty sure I have now accounted for all deaths to date. Despite not having any of the major players who snuffed it in the last few days of 2016, our leader was way out there. Interestingly, if someone had only had the magic combination of Tovar, Gabor, Castro, Richard Adams and Liz Smith (with one of them as their joker) plus one or two others, it could all have been such a different story, i.e. a combination of only 6 or 7 hits might have won. Closest to that was Shaun of the Dead, who surged up the leaderboard in the last few days. Last year's champ Toast had a good year with 12 hits, sadly most of them just not garnering the chunky points later in the year. Death Impends also had a good go towards the end. Sir Creep leapt up at the ankles of gold with Huston Smith and finished runner-up, despite technically only having 24 names. What might have been with one more late hit, eh? So, bloody well accept you've won gcreptile, and accept the plaudits, laurels etc. I'm sure Deathray will honour his pledge to donate a fiver to the charity of your choice (you did say that, didn't you?) Final Leaderboard for 2016: 1st - gcreptile - 2223 Points; 13/25 2nd -Sir Creep - 1860 Points; 13/25 3rd - The Unknown Man - 1776 Points; 11/25 4th - Maryportfuncity - 1747 Points; 10/25 5th- Death Impends - 1709 Points; 10/25 6th - Captain Chorizo - 1627 Points; 11/25 7th - Toast - 1565 Points; 12/25 8th - Book - 1521 Points; 8/25 9th - Shaun Of The Dead - 1482 Points; 7/25 10th - Rotten Ali - 1159 Points; 9/25 11th - Morbidkid - 1096 Points; 8/25 12th - msc - 1026 Points: 8/25 13th - Jiroemon Kimura - 1001 Points; 6/25 14th - Whoaml - 862 Points; 6/25 15th - Switch - 850 Points; 6/25 16th - YoungWillz - 383 Points; 3/25 17th - Bibliogryphon - 228 Points; 2/25

Deathray 2,940 Posted January 7, 2017 Thank you! Proud to have won, and many thanks to our hosts. If there is a prize... I don't know... I guess Cancer Research UK may be an idea. As it was my game for 2016, the £5 prize has been continued. And as requested sent to Cancer Research. I'll let YoungWillz decide what to do about future competitions.
