There doesn't need to be when in 100% of cases they can be covered elsewhere by what they're primarily known for. So Stephen Fry in comedians or Hollywood possibilities... or his own thread when the time comes for him to have one (if he doesn't already have one because of his manic depression/obesity). Bentrovato 1,096 Posted March 12, 2021 And you believe that all Rectors of Universities are the same? You believe that they are all manic depressive obese people and you wish to put them into some tag that agrees with your rules and social views.
Toast 16,162 Posted March 12, 2021 Rector is just another term for the head of a university or college. Like Chancellor, Warden, Master, Dean etc as detailed earlier.

Not in Scotland, where the rector is the elected representative of the students to the uni board. The head (or chief executive) is the Principal. Entirely different roles. Worth noting as in Ulitzer's example, its the former, not the head position.

Sir Creep 7,070 Posted May 11, 2021 Marye Anne Fox, a tough-minded chemist who guided UC San Diego through eight often difficult years of growth as the school’s chancellor and who was awarded the National Medal of Science for her insights about sustainable energy, died Sunday at the age of 73. Fox passed away at her home in Austin, Texas, after a long illness, according to a statement by North Carolina State University, where she served as chancellor prior to moving to La Jolla. She was the first woman chancellor at NC State and the first woman to to hold that position as a permanent appointee at UCSD. The titles meant a great deal to Fox, who spent much of her life promoting the interests of girls and women. SC
