It's precisely anti-division. Divisiveness comes from only two sources. One is the rabid intent of some to break up the Union and decare independence from the UK. The other is a Westminster Government who decides how much pocket money Scotland gets and have the power to overrule any Act of the Scottish Parliament and introduce legislation which could revoke any settlement it likes at any time. Federalism is a move to keep the unity of nations while recognising particular parts of the UK have their own issues they are better able to deal with. Why should the London Mayor or the Mayor of Manchester have more power than a sovereign nation? It is more likely to lead to a stronger Union imo, not diminish it. Also, it would allow the PM of England to hang as many fucking flags as he likes on Downing Street, without getting me all het up!
Brad252 807 Posted July 10 If you haven't already done your by-election bingo, get Shockat Adam on your list. It's transpired one of his campaign supporters has been charged with terrorism offences, which could put the MP in an untenable position if he knew about links should the supporter be found guilty: https://www.ft.com/content/4045bcd4-2ceb-4f1f-9a90-137c04148f7b "A supporter of the new independent MP for Leicester South was charged on Wednesday with terrorism offences, less than a week after Shockat Adam’s surprise defeat of Labour’s Jonathan Ashworth in a campaign focused heavily on the conflict in Gaza."

I recall saying that myself in the election thread live coverage, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone more prolific said it on TV somewhere as well. Either scandals on the job will arise, past dodgy behaviour/associations (like the one being reported now) will be uncovered, and/or once the current Gaza conflict is over they'll give up and move on.

Or when they realise just how much work goes into being an MP, particularly when you don't have a party apparatus to fall back on. Twitter can be great. Someone is running some cracking Doctor Who polls there. However Twitter does contradict the No Smoke without Fire adage. So if you smell the smoke on Twitter don't share it until you have seen the flamed for yourself. I have been caught like that myself.

Toast 16,141 Posted July 12 Twitter isn't "complete trash". It depends what you like and who you follow. I get lots of art and architecture, brilliant photography (some vintage), excellent animal videos (wild and domestic). For politics you can follow Larry the 10 Downing St cat, and now also Jennie, Steve Darling's guide dog. Comedy clips. Susie Dent. Lots of specialist posters eg @ThanatosArchive which offers plenty of death-related gruesomeness.
TQR 14,398 Posted July 12 I haven't missed Twitter since deactivating my account just over a year ago. Fortunately, I still see all the funny Tweets screenshotted on Threads and places like The Poke. Threads is still a lovely place btw.

He did that twice, Trump so dumb he didn't even answer the point. To me, that has echoes of JFK's assassination (if you slowly believe that the CIA were somehow involved there). Also, historically I've probably mentioned before that I think Trump is very much a McKinlay type President - another one who got ex-ed. Let's put it this way, there's no way I'm picking him to survive for the Inverse DP next year. Anyone remember this? If you are going to have a Second Amendment, get your target practice in. Piss poor attempt at shooting Trump today.
