Political Discussions And Ranting Thread

I must admit that the Brexit discourse on this site has been probably the most civilized that I have encountered on social media. Even though I seem to be in a minority (along with Deathray) as a Remainer all I have encountered is robust debate not dogma induced hostility and insults.

People may think we are the underbelly of the acceptable internet but at least we are respectful.

I think the average person here is smarter than people from most other forums

as a Remainer

Remain lost the referendum but has got what they want. It is clear now that the UK will never leave the EU.

What that means for our democracy who knows.

Whatever happens now. There will be a vast political price to pay.

I'm going for the following...

The Government loses a 'No confidence' vote.

May resigns.

Labour wins a general election.

Parliament capitulates and we accept a watered down EU deal.

All money is moved from the UK as the new government imposes sweeping tax increases for the rich.

Inflation begins to climb like the speedo in a Fast and Furious car.

Prices start climbing.

The city move whatever money they have left in the UK out.

The Government borrows from the IMF.

We have no money generated by an economy in free fall to pay it back.

People protest on the streets.

Wee Jimmy Krankie demands a new Scottish referendum.

Corbyn agrees.

Scotland votes to fuck off ( alone cannot be any worse than being tied into the UK)

A new far right coalition emerges and tells the people what they want to hear.

They make gains in local elections.

We start turning into fucking Nazis and Trump supporters

An election is forced.

The far right make gains and hold all the cards in a no overall majority election result.

We go back to the 1970s.

The End.

I can't wait!!:D

I'm not sure I've got how the sequence in your previous post quite works out yet, still working my head around that. But this? No problem.

Agree with start point. But after JC wins election he is replaced as leader with a Remainer who either holds another referendum or arbitarily cancels Brexit. Which allows your Far Right party to gain ground.

Same result.

tbh, most of LFN's laundry list will happen no matter what happens to Brexit imo.

The last time the government lost three votes in a single day in the Commons was 1978.

We all know what happened then.

Well, nor me really.

I'm just speculating on a possible forthcoming series of events.

Maybe, if we come back to that post on the 5/12/19 , we will see how accurate or massively shite my predictions were!

I think your main issue is thinking we even get to the main Brexit vote.

6 amendments will be tabled before parliament votes on that. Depending on the content of those amendments, the vote might be untenable.

As long as we still have internet access and are given time off from our work units as decreed by the Great Queen Foster.

TM has form in avoiding votes she knows she will lose but she will struggle to maintain any authority if she does that this time.

I'm more thinking of the SNP amendment to suspend Article 50. It's unlikely to go through, as it would require Labour backing which it currently doesn't have.

2053 and Chuka Umunna shuffles forward towards the despatch box - 'Following my meeting with the EU we now have agreement that means we can now propose that the House votes on the UK Leaves the EU Bill version 264, Amendment 7...' Much jeers and cat calls from across the House.

Clarissa Toffinose leaps to her feet 'No Brexit means No Brexit! What about the 8th Referendum result in 2047 where the country CLEARLY gave a mandate to this House to not leave the European Union...........'

ETC ETC ET fucking cetera

As France is tearing itself apart, will we even be the first to leave the EU?

Ah, yes!

Apparently, the fuel hike climbdown made by Napoleon Macron is not going far enough.

The protesters, apparently, want tax cuts too.

'We will not just accept crumbs from the table' or words to that effect have been uttered by one protestor.

Italy has agreed a budget that is not agreeable to the EU paymasters.

Hungary has a Hitler clone in charge.

Poland is moving to the far right.

Germans Nazis have been openly shouting 'Seig Heil' in gatherings.

It is all warming up nicely! :)

Something in the Trump easing off in the Bone Saw thing made me think on Gorgeous George ripping the Senate Enquiry.

A short blast in the diatribe was about they never accused him of Saud backing, because they had an interest.

Worth watching for the lolz of him tearing them to shreds, whether you a young shaver or a Yank, it will never have happened so completely.

* Carl Levin, the more with it Senator, 84 now BTW....
