Predictor 1,032 Posted June 10, 2015 Incredibly, Danny Thomas' second wife in the 1950s sitcom Make Room for Daddy is still alive at age 96: Marjorie Lord. The sitcom later changed name to The Danny Thomas Show (huge ego much?). Anyways, given Marjorie's advanced age, it's probably not surprising to hear that she has Alzheimers now. Well, at least according to this IMDb post on January 10, 2015.

gcreptile 11,083 Posted June 17, 2015 Ok, the search function didn't show anything.... John Colenback of "As the World Turns" is dead at 79: http://www.inquisitr.com/2176183/john-colenback-former-star-of-as-the-world-turns-dies-at-79/ He already died in May, so yes, it's another death to make the news veeery slowly (unless I've missed something). Spade_Cooley 9,637 Posted June 17, 2015 Actually, while I'm here and knowing that this forum includes many fine gentlemen of an advanced age: was "Soap" any good? I've read about it over the years and it seems like it could be a great show to binge watch, but its never been shown in repeats on UK TV to the best of my knowledge. I can torrent the hell out of it... was it a great show or was it just a memey zeitgeist thing of the late 70s?

I used to watch Soap when it was first on and also catch the occasional re-run. but for some reason I'd always get up to the part in the story where Jessica runs off to join the revolution and then I forget what day it's on the telly or miss a few episodes and can't get back into the storyline. YoungWillz 21,240 Posted June 17, 2015 I'm not that advanced in years, but I always found Benson funnier and better than Soap. I guess cos I came to the party late with Soap, it's not as good imo. Edit: Could have quite the DDP team with Soap and Benson though.

This has been a pretty quiet year for 20th Century American Sitcoms deaths. Richard Bare, Ben Powers, Dick van Patten and Bud Yorkin are some of the only ones whom I've heard of who have died this year, and none of them (except maybe Dick) were famous. In 2012, so many stars died, e.g. Sherman Hemsley, Andy Griffin, Davy Jones, Larry Hagman.
