Maria Benitez, a pioneer who injected flamenco into New Mexico's DNA via her teaching, advocacy and enduring passion, has died. She was 82. Benitez died of natural causes, but had dealt with health issues late in her career.

Sierra Leonean-American ballet dancer Michaela Deprince, who was one of the stars in the 2011 documentary First Position and appeared on the reality television show Dancing with the stars, died at 29 years:

In a bizarre twist it transpires that her mother, author and activist Elaine DePrince (wiki) died the following day aged 77 from surgical complications. 

At the time of Michaela's death her mother was under the knife and wasn't aware that her daughter had died.

Very sad story actually, Two of Elaine Deprince's sons were hemophiliacs, and had died from the AIDS virus after receiving an injection of contaminated blood-clotting products that were supposed to cure them.

Just found out via Wiki that she worked with a charity the company I work for has sponsored (to a significant amount of money) for decades.

I wonder if her mental health was an issue?

Saw a recent post online reuniting the lasses who - sort of - shimmied behind Robert Palmer and pretended to be his band in the Addicted to Love video. They're all fairly chipper by the looks of things, thought you'd all appreciate the form studying. Not entirely sure about obit chances as and when, though it looks like that day is somewhere in the distance!

He was strong critic of Putin who got publicly assassinated by the Russian state.

I assume they gave him the "offer" to have the surgery and become a Putin supporter or refuse and ..either die or have the surgery refused, meaning, the balcony jump might actually have been suicide. Either way, there was somebody else in his room when it happened.

Anyone finding themselves on the 5th or 6th floor of a building in Russia, with somebody else in the room, should be very afraid.
