Can't be so sure. When King Michael was diagnosed in March 2016 nobody thought he'd make the starting line for 2017 let alone 4 months in and counting.

Also, reading between the lines, it sounds like they caught it early and are able to treat it.

I am with radguy on this.If the bone cancer is in an early stage she could beat this potentially.I mean no one thought Jimmy Carter would beat cancer at 91 but he did.

It's bone cancer though, not skin cancer. That's a lot more deadly than skin cancer. Which is why I'm annoyed that I sent in my team way to early. :banghead:

Bone cancer is nasty but it isn`t exactly lung liver or pancreatic cancer. If it is stage 4 however she is in a lot of trouble.

Don't old people die of cancer slower than, let's say, 50 year olds?

Depends on the type and stage but generally yes.

90+ year olds tend to go quicker of bone cancers. There's a 38% 5-year survival rate for 70-89 year olds which then drops. She doesn't say what type of bone cancer it is though.

And add in the fact that she had cancer before.

Unless it is related to her previous cancer it doesn`t mean much.

If I were to guess what type it was, I wouldn't think it would be one in which she survives. She said she is reluctant to treat the cancer and even cancelled an appointment. Doesn't look so good.

You'd have to weigh two factors against each other:

1. Cell division is (generally) slower at 90 than 50, so that alone would contribute to a longer survival time; but

2. Nonagenarians typically are less resilient and have more co-morbidities that shorten their expected survival time and might also mean that doctors are not able to pursue an agressive course of treatment (intensive chemotherapy, extensive surgery etc.).

The net effect can vary, but for most cancers, age is an adverse prognostic factor.

I could kill her off by adding her to my list for next year.

As you might recall, she was unsure whether to opt for treatment or to just let it happen. Now, she's decided to take up the fight:

Comparison from a picture just from April. Treatmemt has definitely taken a toll. You can see it in her hair, her pale complexion, and her eyes.

Barely looks like the woman she was 6 months ago.

A Facts Of Life reunion movie without her may just be enough to break her heart and finish her off in 2018.Seems possible as a few of the cast from that show are twittering about it.
