Given she were diagnosed in April, here's a pic from 2016 for comparisons:

Latest photo. Still out in public, but looks terrible.

Surely a Drop 40er?

More, higher quality, photos from that event here. Can still stand up with a walker (previously assumed from the Instagram pic that she was now wheelchair bound) but still looks very frail.

OK on a serious note, she looks like any lady that age.  Not sure why that photo stirs up 'Bitch gotta be on Drop 40' posts, but maybe a few here need to actually go visit granny in the Old Folkie's Home, prior to the inheritance squabble, to see what an aging person looks like.

My Granny looked like Rae sat 91 and she died at 91.

Actually the Lady in the red dress to the right looks even Worse! Look at those skinny arms! Just curious: was/is Charlotte Rae well-known enough to get an obit in Britain? I considered having her on my list, maybe 2019.

Charlotte Rae has been covered several times by the Daily Mail this decade, for opening up about her alcoholism, for her sadness when family members died, and they reviewed her autobiography. I'd put her Qualifying Obit chances at around 99%, with that 1% being she dies on the same week as, say, Donald Trump nukes everyone or the Queen dies, or Theresa May finds Boris Johnson accidentally made Jeremy Corbyn PM via an arcane 14th century word of mouth law...

It's absolutely astounding the mental gymnastics one must endure in their tiny little brains to conclude that "it's possible" Charlotte Rae could fail to obit.
Granted, we are talking the same troupe of Rhode's Scholars around here that had misgivings about Pat Harrington, who is for all intents and purposes the male Charlotte Rae.

Maybe the Committee will chose a British TV or soap-actress over a (not so well-known) American actress, except she is honored with Oscars, Golden Globes or Emmys.

Look at this year's list:

4 American actresses:

Olivia de Havilland - Oscars, Golden Globes

Betty White - Emmys

Valerie Harper - Golden Globe, Emmys

Mary Tyler Moore - Golden Globes, Emmys

4 British actresses:

Leah Bracknell - soap

Jill Gascoine - TV

Honor Blackman - TV, soap, movie

Liz Dawn - soap

American actress Charlotte Rae didn't receive any of these awards.

So maybe the chances are higher for Doris Day (Golden Globes) to come back or for Joanne Woodward (Oscar, Golden Globe) to debut.

Or for British soap and TV actresses to come back or debut: Prunella Scales, June Brown, Eileen Derbyshire, Paula Tilbrook or Sheila Mercier.

One of the most disappointing omissions for 2018 along with Stiles.

Guessing she was too American for the list.

How about guessing she isn’t near death enough for the list?

She's not that well known in the UK.

She hasn’t any business having a thread, I’ll grant you that.  Every Brit knows who Mrs Garrett is.  It doesn’t get any more well known than ‘every Brit’ and that is a statistic I searched for and just made up to prove my point.

Obit a lock.

I used to watch Different Strokes back in the day. Recognized her face, but that's it. I would say "most Brits of a certain age would vaguely remember her".

Or shall we say Brits of a certain age who watched Different Strokes would vaguely remember her.

(I never watched it.)

I know her best from this forum.

I assume she's sort of an American Patricia Routledge? Aged sitcom star recognisable to most folk in her homeland, say... 25 and over?

Damn that is a pretty good comparison

I take it 'Facts of Life' wasn't a thing over there then?  That was really her hayday, along with Diff'rent Strokes.  But she did have a non-sitcom related career prior.  But that would have been before even old Sir Creep's time.
