Nothing happening...

Probably the most notable death yesterday was a bird.

Too late for QE2. They like the mornings. Maybe Blowjob has jumped off a bridge and no one has called it in yet.

Blowjob? Do you mean Piffle Johnson? Last thing they'd do is announce it on a Saturday, too many people would gather to party in the streets!

It's been 30 minutes since the last notable death. Bit of a quiet spell.

It is quite shocking to go from the dry spell of 2021 (mainly the middle of the year) to the monsoon of late 2021 - early 2022.

I wake up everyday expecting a notable death now.

Far too soon to come to that conclusion.

It's always notable though when the "Deaths of 2022" Wikipedia page already has the next day up while there is nothing for the current day. Definitely statistically unusual.

Right now both 2 March and 3 March are up and empty, so I think you're making something of nothing.

Lol, were you sitting on that page for hours just to make a point?

There's now a death entry for the 2nd of March (and I am posting 5 minutes after). So maybe someone just added the 3rd.

Also,  drol's post yesterday was 5 hours later in the day than it is right now, so today has already been less deathless than yesterday.

And I am pretty certain that yesterday will turn out to be relatively deathless, statistically speaking. Doesn't mean that nothing is happening at all.

No, of course not.  I just looked to see how many more deaths had been added to yesterday's date.

I stand by my original comment - that it's ridiculous to claim a day as "deathless" before the day is even over.  As we all know, deaths are often announced days or even weeks afterwards.

We're mostly arguing statistically here. Do we actually believe that a "deathless day" is completely deathless? No, of course not. But news cycles are mostly the same every day, the Wikipedia editors do their job regularly. So when we don't have a "today's death" by the time a European office workday is over, it's definitely unusual. Of course, deaths get added days or weeks later, we know that, but that also happens on a regular basis and usually doesn't counterbalance a slow news day.

I am sure yesterday's "roster" will grow, but we will end up far below the February average.

Also, this all is just completely meaningless nerdery, but if someone wants to post a tumbleweed.gif, then I say, let them.

This seems a bit like the "Most notable deaths each month" argument. It's subjective. Obviously people die everyday. At the time it was a bit odd how no one was added to the Wiki page. Been a few months since I'd seen that personally. At least so late in the day.

Deep breaths everyone.

It's not subjective at all.  You cannot claim a day is "deathless" before the day is over.  <gavel>
