I'll bet you a can of coffee to the homeless that not more than 3 meet their maker. That gives you lots of lee-way, seeing as you predict 8. Are we on?

Creep is right. I had my hopes WAY up in 2015. I expected Gabor, Bush, Graham, Adulyadej, etc., and many more to die. All of them made it to this year.

Since then I've pretty much realized that a bunch of famous 90-year-olds aren't going to die from being 90 in a single year.

2015 - Schmidt, O'Hara, Molinaro, Healey, Cole, O'Sullevan, Macnee, Lee, Kerkorian,

2014 - Whitlam, James, Wallach, Rooney, Caesar

2013 - Wing, Andrews, (and really Mandela and Kalashnikov too)

2012 - Dunn, Lom, Martin, SHamir, Bradbury

Yes, the Deathlist never has a bunch of famous 90 year olds dying solely for being 90 odd in any given year.

Fun Fact: The only other years' lists besides 2016's to have 4 hits by March 6th were 2013 and 2000.

I think there is a good possibility that the record could be broken this year. As was mentioned above quite a few of the people that you would have thought more likely to die last year (over some of those that did) didn't. People like Havelange, Graham, Douglas and the Thai King. We're still not a quarter way through the year yet so who knows?

Doing Well (not that stats really matter in death due to the unpredictability but........) - currently ahead of the date that the FIFTH death took place in each of the 3 record breaking years:

2003 - 12th June

2008 - 26th Mar (close)

2015 - 11th June

In order to stay ahead of 2008 we need a hit within the next 20 days.

I was bored, so I decided to give my opinion on the probability of SOME people on the list dying this year. I wasn't bored enough to do them all.

Zsa Zsa Gabor: 50% (very old, has health issues, but she is a fighter and her husband wants to keep her alive)

Joao Havelange: 65% (centenarian, hospitalized sometimes for respiratory problems, involved in corruption scandal)

Olivia de Havilland: 20% (centenarian; however, she is in excellent health)

Bhumibol Adulyadej: 40% (old, health issues, in and out of hospital; however, government wants to keep him alive)

Billy Graham: 20% (as long as the bastard has the willpower to make it to 100, he probably will)

Kirk Douglas: 20% (seems fine)

Mary Tyler Moore: 25% (people have taught us that you can survive very long with dementia, blindness, what-the-fuck-is-happening-around-me-ness)

Prince Phillip: 20% (good health for his age, gets quality healthcare)

James Randi: 5% (worst pick on the list)

Clive James: 50% (has cancer, and it might finally be his time, but he's a fighter)

Joost van der Westhuizen: 10% (he's young, a fighter, and is trying treatment that is supposedly a success)

Jimmy Carter: 40% (he has an extraordinary will to live, he's active, and you don't know for sure if the cancer is going to return)

Tommy Chong: 30% (weed might cure him)

George Herbert Walker Bush: 90% (looks very frail, is very old, is reaching the presidential age limit that won't increase for a long time)

Fidel Castro: 5% (this guy will never die, and if he does, the world will end)

Glen Campbell: 50% (in late stages of Alzheimer's; however, still could live a few years according to life expectancy for that stage)

Muhammad Ali: 25% (has had Parkinson's for ages; however, if he's made it this long, he can make it even longer)

Paul Gascoigne: 5% (will get treated, isn't going anywhere anytime soon)
