Khaleda Zia suffered from internal bleeding again yesterday for the fourth or fifth time but "the crisis is tackled for now due to the frantic efforts of the physicians"

Khaleda Zia can't go abroad for treatment because her passport can't be renewed. This is because she is a convicted criminal who misused the money raised by an orphanage trust:

If only Europe is counted, I'd say that there are not very many.

However I did this "leaders who first came to power 1971-1980" list a while ago, and it's horribly long:

...

Kayatyani Shankar Bajpai (1928-2020) Political Officer in Sikkim, ca. 1970-1975

...

José Ramón Ávalos Navarrete (b. 1935), Héctor Dada Hirezi (b. 1938) and José Antonio Morales Ehrlich (1935-2021) as Members of the Revolutionary Government Junta of El Salvador

Kayatyani Shankar Bajpai, Indian diplomat, Political Officer in Sikkim during the Indian annexation of Sikkim, in charge of the area during the transition died in August 2020 from covid at 92:

Apparently a good friend of Henry Kissinger.

Dr. José Antonio Morales Ehrlich, member of the Revolutionary Govt Junta of El Salvador of 79-82 from 1980 to 1982 died in June at 85 or 86:

If Ben Halim is actually dead this time, means that there are no living non-royal state leaders remaining from the 1950s.

Four royals remain. Sirikit's probably going to go next?

A Hampstead hippie who was a serial candidate for fringe parties at by-elections in the UK.

Also noted for making prank calls to LBC with his neighbour and drinking buddy, the late great Peter Cook.

Updated the "Oceanian leaders" list for the death of Paulias Matane. From 1931 only William Deane and Michael Hardie Boys remain and I can't find any articles on either one from the last years.

I've mentioned that Bill Hayden suffered a stroke in 2014 and later had a fall. Here's a picture from 2018 when he was baptized. Peter Hollingworth was widowed in April.

Ati George Sokomanu and Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi are both over ten years above the life expectancy of their countries but can walk unaided, however the latter doesn't look great. Julius Chan was hospitalised in April and doesn't look great.

John Howard sounds a bit frail but feels like he still has a couple of years

Oceanian politicians (excluding NZ and Australia) tend to die young, good picks for pools.

James Arthur Ewing (1916-?, disappeared 1956) Governor of American Samoa 1952-1956

He didn't permanently disappear in 1956. His Wiki is somewhat misleading as it doesn't reveal that he subsequently re-emerged (there is some minor coverage of him up until the 1960s in the archives on Newspapers.com). He died in 1991 according to several family trees on Ancestry.

No idea where he died... possibly abroad, but his widow, Elva Jessie Bump, died in New York in 2010.

Yeah, no doubt that she is ill (judging from Prime Minister, her political opponent Sheikh Hasina's statements) but the Bangladesh press and her party are probably adding all the ailments and diseases they happen to know of into her long list of illnesses.

She has (decompensated?) cirrhosis, heart problems and (uncontrolled?) diabetes, has had internal bleeding around 6/7 times now, urinary tract infection a while ago, blood clots, fever multiple times, had serious covid this year, (untreated?) arthritis/osteoarthritis/rheumatoid arthritis, dental problems, some troubles with her eyes and trouble breathing.

The Bangladesh press have reported (usually without proper sources) that she also has CKD, "lung and kidney diseases",  "serious heart ailment", depression, hypertension, asthma, a mysterious autoimmune disease, heart failure, paralytic deformity on her hand, unstable haemoglobin, "ear ailments", a mild stroke in 2018 and "other old age diseases"

She's been in a wheelchair for ages and already looked like a corpse before getting covid but if she was as ill as they claim her to be, she would've died atleast ten times during the last year. My prediction is that she'll go around January/February 2022 as I am pretty sure she is actually very ill this time.

Lots of deaths from the Philippines lately...nonagenarians Imelda Marcos (frail and in a wheelchair for years, "atleast seven ailments" in 2019), Cesar Virata (last living prime minister whose tenure was during the Marcos dictatorship, stroke+covid+pneumonia in April 2020), Fidel Ramos (has lost weight recently and sometimes does not attend events due to poor health, however in good health compared to the two above) and of course Juan Ponce Enrile (will never die, 98 next year and hopes that he will reach 110) are all still living but for how long?

Cesar Virata on his 91st birthday yesterday. You would've thought that a stroke, a bad case of covid that caused him to be intubated and pneumonia would've taken its toll on him but apparently nope, he looks exactly like he did a couple of years ago.
