Political Frailty

Recommended Posts

One for Sean's (very long) political frailty longlist rather than jumping right into the starting line ups, but whilst she still looks and sounds amazingly good for her age, Betty Boothroyd apparently admitted earlier in the year to having had some "health setbacks" and has been getting "treated for cardiac ailments".

Singhatullah Mojaddedi died last year. Thanks for the list, by the way. Had a round on Twitter with it. I couldn't find much on Do Muoi and Tun Tin. That Girma Wolde-Giorgis guy looks like a candidate. Wheelchair bound and overweight.

No, Mojaddedi is very much alive. That was a complete hoax as he continues making public appearances as of October 2017.

Look, either she can't cope with the food - or - she has stomach cancer.

Here's an article with many photos of the elderly Chinese politicians taking part to the Communist Assembly. Jiang Zemin and Li Peng look great, while Zhu Rongji looks older than his age and pretty frail.

Dead.

Did you pick her on anything this year in the end?

Recent additions to the leave of absence list from the Lords include Lord Graham of Edmonton (who is rather old) and Lord Martin of Springburn ie Michael Martin, the useless former Speaker.

I'd been hoping she'd hang on long enough for the chance of a sneaky unique next year.

Frank Doran. 2 ex-Labour MPs in an hour.

I'm stunned Jimmy Hood outlived him.

Meh, that was my most likely unique hit I spoke of in the research thread (the "replacement" for Simon Fitzmaurice)

I'm sure she's had better days, tbh.

I do like how she plans to run for election next year still.

That's not why he's resigning. Do your own research. A few more ministers expected to go in the next few days...

Might be in for a new International Trade minister before long. And rumblings about Green's long term job prospects, which is far more interesting, given he is essentially May's bulwark.

Michael Fallon is a useless sod who screws everything up. I half expect he went to defend himself and resigned by accident...
