Yeah, her skin would have gone red, her face would have turned puffy, her hair would be falling out and she'd be going on TV talking gibberish. Easy to spot.

No. I think there was a prominent Bush Jr cabinet member who stepped down and died the following year, no?

Guessing you're thinking of his spokesman Tony Snow? Though his position wasn't technically a cabinet one IIRC.

Ah, that's right. Claimed to be in remission at some point but died about 2 months afterwards iirc.

William F. Goodling, a Republican congressman representing Philadelphia (1975-2001), has died aged 89.

I didn't look but would find it hard to believe it was posted -- Goodling's wife, Hilda, died March 18 of this year.

Eberhard Van Der Laan, major of Amsterdam, steps down as doctors stop his treatment:

If he was the sitting major at death, I'd expect him to get an obit (BBC Europe or something like that), but now... obit gamble nr. 1.

Not a surprise as I think I mentioned on here a year or two ago he'd looked really frail on something.

Beaten by a Maxton. Alas, a money grabbing Maxton. Jimmy would have turned in his grave!

Ah, how long do I have to wait to come on this thread and see an African/Asian prime minister/president has died? For example I'd like to see:

Do Muoi (1917)

Babiker Awadalla (1917)

Kim Yong-ju (1920)

Prem Tinsulanonda (1920)

Thanin Kraivichien (1926)

Tun Tin (1920)

Nuon Chea (1926)

Kenneth Kaunda (1924)

Dawda Jawara (1924)

Daniel Arap Moi (1924)

Girma Wolde-Giorgis (1924)

Robert Mugabe (1924)

Jiang Zemin (1926)

Li Peng (1928)

Zhu Rongji (1928)

Tulsi Giri (1926)

Mohammed Karim Lamrani (1919)

Mustafa ben Halim (1921)

Hyun Soong-Jong (1919)

Hau Pei-tsun (1919)

Sibghatullah Mojaddedi (1925)

And I could go on. They'll probably be still alive, all of them, in September 2018, or maybe one of them dead, not more. What is their secret?

When I saw it, it appeared to have a photo of Fiona Jones, the late Labour MP, instead of Ms Butler - unless they were twins, of course.

That's strange, I can still find it on Google News but you're right the link isn't working. Additionally the candidate for Castle Point in 2017 has paid tribute. Curious.

Since you've posted the thumbnail, here's a pic of a Telegraph obit from 2007...

As she is apparently dead, according to Labour folk, I'm going with Crap Research at the Echo for 10...
