Morihiro Hosokawa (b. 1938) 1993-1994

Tsutomu Hata (1935-2017) 1994: Died of natural causes in 2017 at the age of 82.

Tomiichi Murayama (b. 1924) 1994-1996

Ryutaro Hashimoto (1937-2006) 1996-1998: Died of multiple organ failure at the age of 68 in a Tokyo hospital.

Keizō Obuchi (1937-2000) 1998-2000: Suffered a massive stroke at the age of 62 in 2000 and died a month and two weeks later.

Yoshirō Mori (b. 1937) 2000-2001

Junichiro Koizumi (b. 1942) 2001-2006

Shinzo Abe (b. 1954) 2006-2007, 2012-2020

Yasuo Fukuda (b. 1936) 2007-2008

Tarō Asō (b. 1940) 2008-2009

Yukio Hatoyama (b. 1947) 2009-2010

Naoto Kan (b. 1946) 2010-2011

Yoshihiko Noda (b. 1957) 2011-2012

and the current one, Yoshihide Suga (b. 1948) 2020-

Fumio Kishida will become the Prime Minister of Japan next month. So unless someone dies before that, there will soon be 13 of them alive, the youngest being 64-year old Kishida.

Two nonagenarians: Murayama and Kaifu. Murayama, 97, can still stand, walk and talk properly in a video from a couple of months ago and atleast a few years ago still rode a bike. Kaifu seems to also be in great health.

The four octogenarians Fukuda, Mori, Hosokawa and Aso also still look okay (Out of the four only Mori doesn't look great for his age in my opinion) in new pictures, all still active. Koizumi will be 80 in January.

I remain continuously surprised that, given the sheer number of 80+ US senators and congresspeople, we don't see more deaths in office.

Lord Plumb would in my view be Deathlistable. Former President of the NFU and of the European Parliament.

Lots of Palme ministers still alive, but I don't think there are ministers alive from before Palme's first cabinet.

Palme's Consumer Affairs Minister 1985-1986 Bengt K. Å. Johansson dead at 84.

Earliest Swedish cabinet with living cabinet members seems to be Palme's first cabinet (1969-1976) living ones are Kjell-Olof Feldt (1931-), Ingvar Carlsson (1934-, Palme's successor as Prime Minister after he was assasinated), Lena Hjelm-Wallen (1943-), Bertil Zachrisson (1926-2023, mentioned him once before) and Anna-Greta Leijon (1939-).

Interview of 86-year old Carlsson from March.

Iranian Minister of Health and Medical Education 2012-2013 Hassan Tarighat Monfared dead aged 74-75 from a fall:

Also adding that J. Kasvi tweeted today that he finished the last meeting in his last official post today, 30th of September. I feel like this will be the start of a sharp decline in health, he's currently relying on one experimental drug, does not have a bladder, kidneys, prostate or spleen and now has multiple mutations including one very close to his aorta.

Goes to show the benefit of having  the best medical professionals in the world seconds away 24-7.The one's in physical or mental decline often have their staffers doing the actual work, even if the job might take a bit of a toll they are safer in congress with a doctor seconds away then if they were home retired and having to wait on ambulence if something bad happens to them at home.

Akayev looks okay, LTP looks not so okay. Not suprised though, he's a lifelong smoker actually quite known for smoking and cancer survivor.

He lost a Senate race to Claire McCaskill after he spoke of "legitimate rape" and denied that women could get pregnant from rape because they can "shut it all down".

He really puts into perspective how different a political era it was. If the Akin-McCaskill race had been held in the modern polarized political environment it would be an easy Akin win.

Morales-Bermudez was in a wheelchair in pictures from June, Echeverria is probably completely wheelchair-bound. Ben Halim seems to be quite frail.

siphandon.png.0f5c880b765912f7c65318e3c8fc38f1.png

Khamtai Siphandon (or Siphandone) has looked like a corpse for a decade, actually looked quite "great" in December 2020.

murayama.png.6ac6bffffec8265d35899f823d9e5d43.png

Murayama is (probably) the strongest out of the ones born in 1924. Can still stand straight and seems to be able to walk unaided. This picture is from the 21st of September (https://www.nishinippon.co.jp/item/n/803794/)

There are some pretty strange leaders in Oceania. Rota Onorio (b. 1919) has evaded me for years. Can't trace his fate anywhere. Not even a mention on social media!

This 2014 book, written by one of his successors, mentions that Onorio is dead. Suggests that it was sometime during the 1980s.

I did think there was a small chance of him being alive, but I guess this pretty much cements Mustafa Ben Halim as the oldest living former world leader.

McCaskill also dealt with a cancer battle a few years ago. I believe I had her in a deadpool.
