Luiz of Orléans-Braganza hospitalised "in delicate health".

Was already hospitalised twice in 2021 and seems to be wheelchair bound.

Just to add some context: 84 years old, and the current pretender to the imperial throne of Brazil.

Updated the list.

The oldest male royal, excluding Saudi nobodies who you can't find any information online, is probably now either Sheikh Salem al-Ali al-Sabah or Sheikh Tahnoun bin M. Both born in 1926, but as far as I know their exact birthdates aren't known...Kuwait's Sheikh Salem was rumored dead in October 2020 when he was ill and has been wheelchairbound for over a decade. Tahnoun of the UAE is doing fine and has a twitter account.

You might also want to add Yuriko's hospitalisation with COVID-19 in 2022.

Managed to find a 2021 picture of Sheikh Salem:

I've done some reading on him and he's been rumored dead 2-3 times since 2019, has been critically ill atleast two times and has spent a lot of time in hospitals in multiple different countries during the last years.

He must be the oldest person in history to have gotten a nose job done.

Queen Mother Sirikit of Thailand will be 90 tomorrow. Never thought she'd make it this far, considering she's been a living corpse for the last 4+ years...Remember the 86th birthday pictures?

I wonder if they'll wheel her out this time.

Turns out that some 90th birthday pictures of Sirikit were released:

Looked very confused and frail in all the pictures but still doing better than I thought.

Africa has quite a lot of elderly traditional rulers, if anyone is interested here are the ones I'm aware of born before 1940:

Gundonaa Samata Abudu (9 March 1926-) Ghanaian traditional ruler, Gundonaa/Paramount woman chief of the Dagbon traditional region in the Northern Region of Ghana. The Gundonaa is the only Chief, be it male or female, who is able to veto the Yaa-Naa's word, whatever the hell that means.

Ghanaian traditional ruler Gundonaa Samata Abudu is definitely still alive and was interviewed two weeks ago for Sagani TV show The Feminine Story:

. Tunku Ampuan Najihah (1 September 1923-) Former Raja Permaisuri Agong (Queen Consort) of Malaysia. Wheelchairbound for multiple years.

These two celebrated their 99th birthdays recently. Not sure if Ashi Tashi Dorji made an appearance, I tried to search but didn't find anything. Ex-Queen Consort of Malaysia Tunku Ampuan Najihah did:

Princess Astrid of Norway, the older sister of the King of Norway, has become more and more frail this past year. She turned 90 in February and is in a wheelchair now.

The last royal duty she performed was a video last month.

Interesting mention of Sheikh Salem in a British report from 1951:

sheikhsalem.thumb.png.298cdd72769e39114f4db13bbcd7d0c6.png

(At the time Kuwait was a British protectorate ruled by Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah, 11th Ruler of the Sheikhdom of Kuwait since January 1950. He became the 1st Emir of Kuwait when the country gained independence in 1961 and was the Emir until his death from a heart attack during the opening session of the National Assembly in 1965. The current Emir is the 6th)

Hits/Misses

Woizlawa-Feodora Elise Marie E Reuss | 3rd June | 1 team

We begin this update with the unnoticed death of the Duchess of Mecklenburg, Princess Woizlawa Feodora Elise Marie E Reuss. The 100-year-old was the last member of her family, but was better known for having a long name. She didn't obit. Shame.

Duchess Woizlawa Feodora of Mecklenburg (1918-2019)'s son, Heinrich Reuss (1951), stylized as Prince Heinrich XIII, has been arrested yesterday for his involvement in the coup d'état plot to overthrow the German government. According to reports, he was the intended monarch for the revolutionary government. While not an imminent suicide risk or the likes, it's a clear sign he has completely lost all sense of reality.

I wish we had someone who would overthrow our government.

. Marianne, Dowager Princess zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn (9 December 1919-) Picture taken around 2019. Wheelchairbound for around 4 years.

According to 103rd birthday articles Marianne was hospitalised with covid recently or recent-ish and hasn't been able to walk, apparently at all?, since her hospitalisation. However she's doing well mentally.
