Spade_Cooley 9,515 Posted March 13, 2023 Topol and Tom Sizemore can be excused on the "died too recently", but Anne Heche, Paul Sorvino and Charlbi Dean - who was literally the lead actress in a film nominated for Best Picture -?

Sky briefly cut out in the middle of it (thanks chaps) but it seems like there was quite a few snubs - including Hugh "his film won Best Picture" Hudson and Charlbi "the star of a film nominated for Best Pic LAST NIGHT" Dean as two. It came across as half-assed, and more insulting given John Travolta, who introduced the segment, was still visibly upset over the death of his dear friend Olivia Newton-John. Sly Ronnie 878 Posted March 13, 2023 But David Warner to be snubbed by BAFTA? That's just plain daft.
msc 18,437 Posted March 13, 2023 Oh the Oscars snubbed Marsha Hunt too - mentioned given her number of fans on this forum.

Sir Creep 7,070 Posted March 14, 2023 The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has defended its in memoriam tribute to late actors and artists that aired during the Oscars on Sunday after facing backlash for leaving some big names off the list. Actor Lydia Cornell tweeted in response to the segment: “Can anyone explain why this happens every year?” The “Too Close for Comfort” star then listed a few names that she noticed were missing, including Paul Sorvino, who died in July at age 83; Anne Heche, who died at age 53 in August from injuries sustained in a car crash; and Tom Sizemore, who died earlier this month at age 61, days after suffering a brain aneurysm. Sir Creep thinks Sizemore makes sense cuz it was too late, stay tuned for 2024. SC
Death Impends 7,957 Posted March 14, 2023 It's baffling too because all of these exclusion issues could easily be resolved by allocating an extra few minutes for the In Memoriam segment. But apparently the celeb tomfoolery during the rest of the show is too important to cut into.

gcreptile 10,964 Posted March 11 Well, the Oscars kind of snuck up on me. They closed with Tina Turner. Before her: Glenda Jackson.
sodoffbaldrick 36 Posted March 11 (edited) I guess I'm too old to watch the Oscar's In Memoriam. Most of the tributes were so small, taking up only a small portion of the tv screen that neither the names or photos could be clearly seen. The camera people appear to have forgotten how to do closeups on the screens they were showing the scenes and photographs on. And could anyone make out what the list of words? names? on the screen at the end of the tribute was? It was a blob of names they didn't include in the tribute. The only one I could read was Cormac McCarthy.
