ajlposh 549 Posted November 17, 2023 Well, her husband has ruined the concept of hospice care for me, so who knows how long this will last 2
Lafaucheuse 4,045 Posted November 17, 2023 Spots 1 and 2 on next year list (if they make it) seems appropriate imo
gcreptile 10,966 Posted November 17, 2023 Oh they're just trolling us. Wasn't she already on something that could be called hospice care? Is anything actually changing? 1
Commtech Sio Bibble 2,028 Posted November 17, 2023 Almost certainly going to go down like a pair of dominos, one after another.
The Old Crem 3,582 Posted November 17, 2023 Normally hospice care means death is fairly imminent but she is likely to be getting the same type of hospice care as her husband so that might not be the case.

Jimmy Carter's family expected him to die "five or so days" after entering hospice.

markb4 892 Posted November 18, 2023 I kinda assumed she was in hospice care already since Jimmy was. Guess I was wrong.

I don’t know, the fact that the Carter family feels that they have to make this announcement considering Jimmy has been in hospice care for 9 months, makes me think Rosalynn won’t be here much longer. Also, Rosalynn has dementia, which there’s no type of treatment for. Jimmy doesn’t have dementia (that we know of). Not sure if that makes a difference or not.
Youth in Asia 1,086 Posted November 18, 2023 If she has entered hospice care of the quality Jimmy is getting she's good for another 5 years
Deathtreat23 189 Posted November 18, 2023 When one of them goes, the other will follow shortly after, possibly before the years ends.
Sean 6,314 Posted November 18, 2023 I do wonder what definition of hospice they are using. In Jimmy's case it certainly seems the most basic form of having a DNAR with an instruction not to go to hospital if the cause of admission is reversible (I.e a broken bone).
Sean 6,314 Posted November 18, 2023 Seems a massive coincidence that Jimmy has lasted 9 months on hospice alone let alone that his wife has joined him.Makes me highly suspicious this is more of a detailed advanced directive ( no CPR , IV antibiotics , IV fluids , NG feeding , invasive ventilation life sustaining oxygen etc).Basically a keep me home and do nothing remotely radical instruction rather than we need to actively or intensely or even actively palliate them now.
