England v Belgium could be a hoot, with both teams better off losing or drawing and having more fouls.

We've had the Disgrace of Gijon and the Mediocrity in Moscow! Will we soon witness the Kookiness in Kalingrad as both teams attempt to lose whilst attempting to look like their attempting to win. Or it could just be more fun if they all agree switch ends and try and score own goals all match, as that would actually be more beneficial.

Punchline being team who manage to finish 2nd and get the easier route somehow manage to lose 3-0 to Japan anyway.

Columbia scored, to knock Senegal out of the World Cup and let Japan through if it stays like this.

Quintero is a god amongst footie players.

To lose Rodriguez, I thought their Cup was over. Huzzah for them. (Also, phew!).

Japan's last attempt on target was in the 72nd minute.

Yes and of course Poland. Poland had a duty to try and tackle the Japanese players when they were playing keep ball.

Poland?

Just in and catching up.

They went out didn't they?

Whit in it for them?

A 0-0 Bel-Shire nailed on and down to card count I reckon.

God knows, that's partly what makes it so odd. They could have tried to restore their pride by getting a comfortable win but they all just stood in their own half and let Japan knock the ball around in their half for 15 or so minutes, utterly disgraceful football.

Which meant Senegal out?

No big allegiances between the teams I'd have thought.

Not exactly West Germany/Austria in 82 was it??

Not old enough remember that, but from what I've read no it wasn't anywhere near as horrendous as that but it was still utterly dreadful behaviour.

Aye point was tho, allegiance , saw both teams through to bump Algeria I think.

Poland out, no grief/love with any of the other 3 in group.

Strange.

Not exactly on topic, but in 2002 I think, Eurosport showed every game in full coverage from the 78 WC with Archie MacPherson commentating.

It was great.

Off work on holiday, in pub at 6am in Broughton Street sitting watching game after game.

I wonder if they did it again with other WC's in later years.

Woooooooof.

And I'm sure I posted afore re contrived results.

There was an Irish League team in the 90's I think, that on the last day of the season, if they'd drawn or won, would have saw them relegated.

It was a 2 year average thing to decide placings, and surprise, they lost.
